No you're cool!! I get what you were saying, but it was just too much of a blanket statement. I actually find music where people are just reading off of a sheet in front of them to be much more of a mechanical thing than emotional. The music can have emotion, but the people playing it don't necessarily. This is further proven (in my head) by the fact that they need the sheet in front of them. Look at the band Nile I cited for instance. When they play a show, it is a bout two hours of 3.5 to 12 minute long songs that are very complex and have many different/interlacing parts to them. I feel like the fact that they know every single note/chord/word/strike of a cymbal to be much more from the heart and musical than someone who needs a piece of paper to tell them what to play and a conductor to tell them when to start and stop. With this, it just seems like the music/song just isn't in their heart and is played by them and not through them. I don't know, maybe I'm looking in to it too much! I have a lot of respect for anyone that spends the amount of time it takes to master an instrument to the point that you are in a concert hall where you can't even get in without a suit and tie on. However, I think that someone who creates their own music is much more of an "artist". I guess there is a difference between an "artist" and a "musician". There we go, it took all of that for me to come to that conclusion. I liked the journey and the destination!!!!
