But hip hop actually originated as a form of folk art, when young black people on the streets had little money so as a way to pass the time they stood around in thier neighborhoods rapping. this was back in the 70s when Warner Bros took note and signed The Sugar Hill Gang and this became the first commercial "rap" song.

Rap is really all about lacing lyrics in a rhythmical style. But dont rap to me about bitches and rims. Id prefer to listen to hip hop that has a positive message or more clever rhyming schemes.
