It's a ported box. Some of those people have some magical thinking patterns.

toyota mini van, memphis lvs 18" orion 2500d

want stupid output with sq between 25-60hz.

6.5 cubes @ 35 is what im looking at?

or port on same side as moofer for more / easier 'tuneing' options?

daily driver just for fun.
lukeboa (60ndown), a CRX box just refers to having the drivers facing up and the slot port on one side facing the rear of a Honda CRX. It happens to get very loud in a CRX because of the shape and size of the car. Using it in a Toyota minivan most likely will not give you similar results. A CRX box is not a magical type of enclosure, it just gets loud in a CRX.

the skepticism is loud and clear, but is it possible that while some seek sq others seek spl and both camps can learn?

A Crx box is subs up, port back. It reduces cancellation by timing the ports output with the subs. That way both sound waves reach your ear at almost the same time.

It works best in suv's vans and hatchbacks.
Originally used in the Honda CRX, hince the name.

^bs maybe, but i have an idea that guys spending $10,000s dollars on spl installs actually 'think' once in a while and if something works well for them in many different applications maybe it has value?

maybe ill just get a max or a seas or a dyna

i have had a jl 12 w7 in my ride for the past 3 months, i listen to

everything from rap-metal.

i have come to believe that ported boxes are not good for sq applications,

and that 18s are slow.

not so in my experience today, this subwoofer in this box in my van sounds

better (sq) than the jl12w7, and has a lot more output.

im a convert to the 'potential' of ported boxes.

im going to get the guy who designed the above box for me, to design one

for my 12w7 (ported crx style) and see if its the driver or the box that is so

amazing?

i also like haveing 6.5 cubes @ 35 hrtz in my van

just something masculine and sexy bout it...........

.

Nice job, big boxes and big drivers are fun, you must have built a good one, a properly implemented design can sound fantastic.

They say that it has a 91.6 dB 1W/1M sensitivity but at 2.83V How is that measured? 1VC, VCs in parallel, VC's in series?
