Browsing eBay last night, I stumbled across these nice looking Streetwires ZN5.0 RCA connectors. These are nice and compact and great for making your own cables. I did a best offer of $13.50 for a bag of 50 and the seller accepted it, so that's only 27 cents per connector! The same seller has lots of other install accessories, so browse through the store for other good deals.

Hell of a deal. Put the sleeve on first then about 1" of heat shrink. When the connections are fitted then slide the shrink up over the crimped cable hasp and shrink it, I prefer adhesive lined heatshrink. Then assemble. This will make the connector MUCH more reliable down the road.
* Adhesive lined shrink has like hot glue lining the inside, when heated it shrinks and adheres like crazy... Good Chit Mane ![]() Nice find! Chad |

So, any reccomendations for some reasonably priced cable to make RCAs with? Preferably something I don't have to purchase 500 ft. of. I've heard some of you mention the Gepco cable, but I'm not sure where to buy it. Or if anyone has extra cable they would like to get rid of, let me know.

Alright, now's a good time to ask.
I thought the importance of RCA's was in the wire, and not the connector? Twisted, double-shielded... Edit: I suppose "double shielded" refers to the connector? |

The things I look for in a connector are more related to ease of use and construction. As long as it fits into the RCA plug properly it will work, performance-wise. These connectors are easy to solder, simple to use, and more compact than the average RCA end. And they are labelled for left and right, so I don't have to worry about using different color heat shrink to tell the left and right apart.

I agree, user friendly is the key! Some early switchcraft 3502 (not the A series) would bite the mating connector so hard that it was sometimes impossible to remove without damage to the female. Recently I got some Neutriks I REALLY like, not the easiest to install but cool none the less.
It's all about preference, the streetwires spooked me from a reliability standpoint about the crimping and smaller diameter wire, but I alleviated that issue with the Switchcraft 3502A's, 280's and 297's with the shrink as I described above. Now they are just as reliable if not more reliable then the Neutrik's with the chuck type system with less parts to assemble. Sthe streetwires, though, trump all (IMHO) at this point in terms of value if you are using a bunch, I'm a tad jealous ![]() Chad |

I also ordered some of those, and some slide terminals as well. I've bought before from him with no issues, and I like that all the stuff in the store lets you make a best offer.

Sweet!!! Just picked up a bag myself.
For wire, I found this site to be really good. It does require a minimum order on Gepco wire, but it's cost, not length. For $75.00 you can get a lot of good cable. http://www.systemsstore.com/Merchant...ory_Code=gepco |

I hate you guys. I just built some cables using some old junkie stinger ones but these would look better. I just submitted an offer of 10.50. I wonder if he will bite.
