Sony CDX-F7715X for under $90, see image below but lots of other items out there:

I would suggest calling and placing your order over the phone, and making sure your info verifies over the phone and gets approved for shipping. Stuff is going very fast.

Lets keep it here for now, the are very limited quantities and some of this stuff is being sold at up to 40% off our cost (yeah, crazy).

I bought myself a head unit, a couple 4 channel amps and some coaxials for my test bench I'm putting together.

guys, be careful you are getting what you want with the 7715x. I've had one myself for a year or so and measured the pre-volt outputs with a DMM at about 80% volume playing a 300hz test tone. They both showed 2.0 volts on the dot. Granted, I'm no electrician and am not 100% certain that I did the measurement correctly, just sharing my observations.

on the same note, the overall performance of the unit is pretty nice and the build quality is definitely above average. The unit feels a lot less 'plasticky' than some of the alpines and pioneers i've been fiddling with recently. CD's play clean as hell, and the 'soundstage' function is pretty darn cool. with a couple of clicks of the setting, it raised the stage of my CDT HD-42's from ankle level to ear level. the EQ settings are pretty flexible but it's a pain to access them. Also, there are a good handful of functions that can only be accessed from the remote including crossover settings. No big deal, but again, just sharing.

I think this deck is quite nice for someone who's not a big tweaker. I got mine on a whim one day and didn't even shop it. I told the guy in the store i wanted a good midrange deck with decent preout voltage and let him select it since i knew it was only temporary before I get something really high end.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

I'm no electrician either, but IME the preamp voltage doesn't really start kicking until the final clicks of HU volume. So your observations seem correct to me. If you saw how much voltage the avg 4v preout deck put out, you'd cry. And THAT'S with a straight sine wave.

Thanks for the heads-up Juan.
