Hey guys,

Rick at Raammat has about 30 rolls of the Raammat BXT.eg (for extra gooey) defective rolls of deadener. He's letting these go for $69.00 per roll.

Basically, even with the added cost of a bottle (or two) of Goo-B-Gone, this is one hell of a deal.

There is ZERO, and I mean NO WARRANTY with this product. If you want some, contact Rick. He was kind enough to do this, so don't bother him with silliness, or stupid questions. Everything you need to know about this product is posted in the following link.

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11855&highlight=raammat

If somebody has an ECA account, they can post this over there as well. I don't have one, and have no intention of getting one. He wants this moved out as soon as possible.

Wow, sweet deal! I think they will be gone pretty fast at that price.

I'll post it over on ECA. I've set up a couple group buys for the element forum I used to post on, so it's only fitting I spread the word. ;) As long as it doesn't get me banned for 'group buy' violations. LOL!

My personal suggestion would be to use this for the floor of your car just in case it does melt. that way it won't ruin anything. Also, putting a layer of insolite over the top would prevent it from pooling or soaking/getting into your carpet. it's a really good deal if you need the floors of your car done. :)

I thought it was just messy to work with compared to the original BXT. It actually gets to the point of turning into liquid form?

welp, it's 90 degrees over here, and I had trouble at times pulling the backer paper off.

So Extra Gooey might mean you are buying now, and waiting for late November to install it.

raamaudio
05-08-2007, 05:14 PM
I am not worried about it melting, just some rolls are hard to peal the backing off of and they are all a bit messy;)

Thanks for posting this, I do not like to advertise on my favorite forum(actually I do not advertise directly on any forums, even ones I am an honorary sponsor on:)

This keeps things a bit more open for me to be a regular member which I highly regard:):)

I think most, if not all, of us very much appreciate you just being here to lend advice, and share knowledge. It's the true spirit of this forum. Product sales are one thing, and they'll come. You're much more valuable here as a subject matter expert than a retailer with an occasional great deal, so we all appreciate that.

Cool, 2 rolls for me, and 2 rolls for my friend. Now he can stop using my stuff.

I have a company vehicle that I turn in about every 2 years. So, by the time my install is done, I only have about 18 months of actual audio time. So, after 18 months, I don't care if this stuff pools to the bottom of my door panel. Rick says it won't, but it doesn't matter to me. That's why it's such a great deal for somebody like me. I hate spending money on full price deadener when I only get to use it for a limited time.

Just another bump for Rick. Placed my order today for the regular version, although this was a great deal. Hope you recoup your costs and keep up the good work. Looking forward to getting the truck deadened and running some wires this weekend (hopefully).

Wow, things are going nuts on this guys and I am swamped with my regular sales as it is!

Please be patient, this is going to be another 16 hour+ day for me and I may not get back to all of you.

I will do my best to make sure you get what you want based on when you either emailed, PM'd, already paid, etc. only way I can be fair.

I have around 30 rolls, will know for certain once we get them out from under tons of other rolls(really).

We did not mean to bury them but we had a truck load of stock come in right before a big storm was going to hit and in our rush forgot to move them out!

If you do not hear back from me tonight you will tomorrow morning and again, those that spoke up first get first priority and we have enough to cover you all for now:):)

We are really slammed right now for regular business as well so I have a very very long day ahead so please be patient, I promise to take care of you all as soon and properly as I possibly can:)

I am trying to keep this off the forum, PM and emails please as much as we can.

But, for this clearance of BXT EG I am going to give everyone ordering a break on ensolite and adhesive, a one time deal, must be with a mat order. And, we are really low on Ensolite, it is selling in huge amounts as nearly everyone of our fellow enthusiasts customers orders it now but we have more on the way, allot more.

Ensolite $8 per yard
Adhesive $7 per can

Recommend 3-4 yards per roll and 1 can per 2.5 yards of ensolite

-----------------------

I am getting flooded with emails, PM's and orders so be patient please!

Looks like all the mat will be sold out by tomorrow and I want it out of here as soon as possible, I have a truck load of new product due any minute now.

So I PM Rick about an hour ago asking him for a shipping quote and recommendations for my car, a Miata. A few PMs later and he's actually trying to sell me less mat, given the size of my vehicle. Maybe I caught him at a good time, but the guy's been extremely prompt and helpful. I just sent him payment via PayPal. A roll of BXT EG, 3 yards of Ensolite and a can of adhesive should be coming my way soon. So far, highly recommended.

After my e-mails, he totally sold me more.

Then after I gave him my zip for shipping, he said to be safe I should add a little extra..... ;) :p

BTW- I only needed 2 1/2 rolls he said it would be cheaper to get 3 and sell what I didn't need and then he shipped the extra stuff free:) :) (should I have said that)

Rick is great, the only way this could be any better is if he showed up at my house with the delivery and offered to help install it:p

Trying to match up everyones needs, wants, budgets, install skills, according to their plans will sometimes seem conflicting to others ideas. I do the best I can and usually am right on. The biggest issue is guys wanting the least amount possible and then going a bit overboard once they see how well it works, sometimes they run out far before finished, seldom will anybody have any left when done;)

If you are going all out then I always recommend a bit more than it seems you should need, rarely is there any left on those installs either:)

Some choose to go their own route instead of following my pretty well proven guidelines and go nuts in some areas and not use enough in others:(

I do the best I can and I know, you guys know that:):)

Those are 275/40/17 race tires, full suspension mods, race seat(Recaro SRD's on the way, Racetech full race seat temp install) 284 ft lbs of torque at the wheels. Second event, 4th in a very fast class, less than a second behind 1st, full race Vette and Elise were another second faster, soon I will be even closer to them;)

To put things in perspective I beat a couple of EVO's, at least one STI, in my class and was as fast as a fully built Miata on super wide race tires and my car has a full interior and sound deadened:)

Actually, I ended getting what he originally recommended for my car. He said I should deaden the floor in front of the seats, the firewall, the lower a pillars and the area behinds the seats. I told him I was really only trying to deaden my doors and trying to get rid of road noise seemed a bit futile in my noisy convertible, especially with the top down. He said I could go with half a roll of BXT.eg, but suggested a full roll, a yard of ensolite and a can of adhesive. I figured I'd just go with his original recommendation of a full roll, 3 yards of ensolite and the can of adhesive to be on the safe side.

I won't mention what other deals he offered me as they were probably situation specific, but, really, he's been great to work with so far. Five PMs in less than an hour and a half (including delays in me responding) and an e-mail confirming he got my payment and that my order would go out Monday. Did I mention this all started after 10pm PST on a Saturday night? I think Utah is MST, so 11pm his time. You can't get much better service than that and by all accounts, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. Heh, I almost sound like an advertisement for him, but I have no affiliation with the man.

1.5 rolls EG

Please understand, I am not senile! When greek power and I do ours with the EG, we plan on putting it in a insulated cooler with some ice to keep it "hard" then hitting it with a hair-dryer once it's on the doors. The cold should take the EG-ness and put it in it's place. It'll be dry first, of course.

Rick, any idea when we should expect it? (16066)

raamaudio

Hmmm, new idea, frozen mat that you pop into the microwave before serving:D

I have decided to make some changes to the BXT during this time frame, seems appropriate and we have been working on many ideas for some time.

Here is what I am considering and I would love to have your inputs.

One thing we are going to keep doing is keep things as simple as we can, just sell what works for the best price we can offer it at.

Thickness, 70 mils, I can do this without much cost, for the time being would not even raise my prices, you get more for your money.

Aluminum layer, I have avoided thicker aluminum due to the danger of slicing up your hands. We may go somewhere in the middle, testing it now, 3 mils possibly.

Formula, not much we can do that is cost effective and provides an actual improvement. Raising the heat rating would allot us to use it under the hood, that is the main reason, the rest is probably mostly marketing which I really try to avoid!!!! Right now we rate it at 250 degrees but it is safe to go higher, the real point of this is if your car is 250 degrees it is already on fire anyway so higher temps do little good. This one I have to think about a bit more.

I have looked into changing the roll size but this one just works so well for nearly everyone, in single roll installs, double roll jobs, etc, etc.

Tell me what you think, I will carefully consider all inputs, especially from you guys :)

Thanks,
Rick

Just curious what increasing the aluminum layer thickness impacts- what are the advantages to having a thicker aluminum layer?

Autiophile
05-16-2007, 11:12 AM
Thicker would be great in the butyl layer, especially at the same price.

3 mil aluminum sounds good too. 4 mils on second skin's damplifier mat is a little thick in my opinion.

Heat rating is fine at 250 and the roll size is perfect the way it is.

internecine
05-16-2007, 12:01 PM
A BIG FAT NO on increasing the foil layer!!!

This is the one and only reason why i choose to use BXT over dynamat extreme. (not factoring price)

dynamat extreme is thicker, so gaining some thickness for zero price increase would be great, if it costs more, not worth it.

the thicker foil, i dont know what benefits there are to this but IMO there are huge disadvantages, again, why i chose BXT. Cutting your hands up, yea, my dynamat extreme layer has blood stains all over it, its gross, thats why its covered up by a layer of BXT, and ya know what, there is no blood on the BXT layer. Also laying the mat, getting it into tight areas and corners is so much easier with a thiner foil, it just bends and conforms so much easier.

bobditts
05-16-2007, 04:34 PM
if you are worried about people slicing their hands while installing the BXT with a thicker metal layer, you might just have to sell your own brand of "install gloves"

Whiterabbit
05-16-2007, 05:28 PM
that belongs on anthony's website. I worked onsite at a place famous for ridiculous attention to safety. Next to the pvc gloves, next to the nitrile gloves, next to the acid gloves, are the kevlar gloves. corporate policy stated you must put on kevlar gloves......if you need to cut something with scissors. =\

I regret not stealing a bunch of pairs for personal projects.

but anthony could sell them by the half dozen or dozen on his site. Right next to the panel poppers and extreeme boxcutter utility knives.

Whiterabbit

I'd vote on small batches of small rolls. Say, a third of a roll at half the cost or a half roll at 65% of the cost. Something like that. That lets people pay nickels and dimes to get just enough material to work with kickpanels, or dash panels, or center consoles, or rear decks. Things like that. Projects on a budget. Something where you dont count on many sales, just need a few partial-rolls to satisfy the small handful of people who only want to buy enough for the one project.

I'm all for a thicker aluminum layer. Or not. Up to you. same with the butyl layer. The value in RAAMmat to me has been that I can just buy so much that I'll layer it up. I'd say as long as it is looks just close enough on paper to damplifier that it's seen as a direct competitor, people will let their pocketbooks pick the winner. They will know they are getting their money's worth as they apply it.

I say forget about the high temperature application. The (monetary) value of raammat is apparent, and anyone who has used the product can attest to its ability to stay laminated in non-hood environments. Frankly, If I wanted to take care of my hood I could go to "the other guy" and buy fifty bucks worth of damper and hood specific material. Then go back to the many rolls of raammat for my firewall, doors, floor, interior paneling, roof, trunk, rear deck, etc etc etc etc. Why should I have to pay more to do my whole car when I can buy nickels and dimes worth of a specialized product to do one small job, then use the less expensive general purpose product to do everything else? Even if I lived in texas with a black car with no AC, I can do my roof in "the other guy's" product and finish every other aspect of the car in RAAM. Who made more money in sales? wasn't "the other guy"!

FYI I dont know if I got a strange batch of "other guy's" foam or not, I purchased it as I said I would after we spoke on the phone. it came looking much like ensolite. given how little installation difference there was, I regret not simply buying your ensolite instead. Next time someone calls up (like me) and says they want your mat but will go to "the other guy" for foam, tell them I said they'd regret it.

I say you should "man up, rub some dirt on it, and walk it off" if you are worried about slicing your hands. Ive installed dynamat extreme before without a scratch (from the mat itself atleast). only carelessness leads to bloodshed in this case.

Got mine today... Man seriously fast:) It came in two boxes and man I thought the ensolite was going to be light, but that stuff is heavy, can't wait to get it in the car.

I got two large boxes, everything seems to be there, well packed and ready to go. I did notice that Rick was not in either of the boxes, so looks like I am going to have to do the install myself:D

I didn't find EG much more messy than regular gooey. Just make sure your knife is extremely sharp so you can make clean cuts without ripping.

thats www.raamaudio.com

mine was a bit gooey as it got hotter. definitely recommend not letting it get in the sun and staying under 75 degrees.

I will also say BUY ENSOLITE - I love this stuff. Great investment

Things here have been pure hell guys, this is the wonderfull email I had to send over hundred copies, custom tailored of course, out just today and more to go tonight.

"I sincerely apologize for the long delay in getting back to
you. 8 years in this business and we have never had so many
things go wrong all at once!

1) Email delayed in being received from our server, this has just been corrected.

2) Our BXT RAAMmat restocking shipment was misrouted and received late.

3) Upon receipt we conduct a final test before shipping any orders out and it failed to meet our stringent specifications and we will not ship products that do not pass with 100% results.

(this is not the EG, this is the order we recieved after the EG, we have hundreds of rolls here I will not sell, they will end up being destroyed most likely)

4) We are taking this opportunity to increase the quality of our BXT RAAMmat and maintaining our current prices

5) We are offering you a 20% discount on all products ordered prior to this new formula arriving if you can wait for the release which we are targeting for the end of this week if at all possible. All you have to do is order now and when we ship we will issue the refund.

If you are unable to wait I fully understand and I hope you will feel comfortable dealing with us in he future, we will overcome these temporary setbacks and return to offering the best service and support in the industry and have an even better RAAMmat BXT to offer our fellow enthusiasts.

Thanks for your patience and understanding during this very stressful time for us here at RAAMaudio.

We will get through this but sure as heck not a great thing to go through and none of it was our fault in the least.

Hi Rick,

How bad are the "hundreds of rolls here I will not sell, they will end up being destroyed most likely?"

Just curious if they have any use instead of trashing them

Thanks

i will not know what we are doing with them for at least a week but if I let any out it would only be here and probably only through PM's. I do not want another black eye for product quality, I have worked to hard to build our reputation and the respect of my fellow enthusiasts.

Our EG is fine to use, just messy, it passed out other tests remarkably well.

Wow, talk about a commitment to customers! That's pretty rare to see and quite refreshing. I'd pay full price...gooey or not.

I say Rick RAAM for Pres 08! :)

Rick, thank you. Obviously I am not on that list, but if I had any influence in the car audio world yours would be the product I would recommend without a doubt. Not only was it easy to use, great price but your character and integrity seem to be top notch.

Sometimes it's in these setbacks that customers truly see the quality and character of a company and they product. May people see that in this situation.
