Hi all, I know this question has many answers depending on many factors, but these drivers really fit my budget in my upcoming 3 way system, and the TG9 is the only driver that fits where I need it to go :D
So has anyone played around with these together yet? I'm looking for a good starting point....I plan on using a 7-8" midbass in my doors that will play up to about 8-900hz or so, then using the TG9 up to about 6-7khz maybe, and then using the Alpine XT19 neo's as a high end fill above that, since that's their strongpoint and I have set already....and they actually fit inside my stock tweet pods!
No worries about the midbass crossover yet, b/c I'm still trying to decide on a driver, but for anyone have suggested starting crossover point and slopes for these two (TG9 and xt19 neo) to mate up well?

so are you asking for a passive design? if so i highly doubt there is one out there. if you're just looking at opinions/sugestions on your plan i'd say definitely run the tg9's lower, even in a small pod you should be able to play down to 400hz without peakiness. if you're pretty much set on wasting the drivers Sd for >800hz then i'd recommend an aura whisper instead.

I have no problems using them that low, I just don't want to loss any midbass output. I'm loooking to have a pretty high output capable system up front, I love a powerful system. I'm not sure where midbass ends and lower midrange begins really....any pointers? :)

hahah i assure you that won't be a problem with the tg9's. 250hz on up is midrange territory. 400hz seems like a great xover point to me

also, forgot to mention, there are some other driver options, such as the Aura 3", the whisper 2", and the HiVi bs3, do all of these have to be put into a sealed chamber or can they be run IB? What's the winner between these drivers for IB situation? It would REALLY simplify my install to be able to run them like this!

I successfully run my Aura NS-3s IB into my fender/carpet in the kicks on-axis. I also have polyfill/foam packed back there. They run from 315(@-24)-5k(@-18) just fine at volumes that would be considered loud by anyone. They are also mated with the XT19 tweeter.

nice, sounds just like my future setup! The aura's look to have the most output also, but I think that the flange on them is a little too large, I wonder if I could cut off some of that excess flange and just keep the mounting holes intact.....it would fit then. I plan on mounting these drivers between my tweet pod in the sail area and my door handle....not much space in there I have to take my door panel off to seewhat I'm working with.....
if only I could fit a 4" deep driver for midbass we might have the exact same setup, but I can't, I might be limited to a 7" driver just because I can't fit much more than 3.3-3.5"....

The TG9 can handle it's own, no doubt about that. In a spl car we did, we used 360 Hz, 18 db without an issue.
7 k is good place to start, but since you will run the TG9's in the kicks and the tweeter up high I suggest you run them without a lowpass on the tg9 and just put a cap on the tweets creating a 12 kHz 6 db lowpass.
Dirt cheap and I think the results will amaze you... :D

Actually, I won't be running them in the kicks, sorry if I confused everyone, they will be run in the upper front part of my door, right next to the stock tweet pods, so that the mid/tweet are very close together, and the midbass will be in the stock front lower door area, probably 18" away or so....
any more thoughts on these drivers? (TG9, Aura, or HiVi BS3?) I think they can all do the job, I guess I am leaning toward the TG9's though, so many positive reviews....
