Anyway...

Here is my beater system. The components are in my sig. I used all stock locations. Sounds MUCH better than the stupid Q-forms I had earlier with Diamond comps. The Xtant amp in hatch is actually a USAmps 5600x in disguise underneath the Xtant's the outer shroud.

EDIT: I completed my first fiberglass sub enclosure! It looks like I didn't do it myself. Which I guess is the best compliment I could give.

Very nice! I love the door wiring. Nice car, too. Oh and nice bike too, btw, I think.

You think it's a bike or you think it's nice? ;) The bike is a 2000 Honda VFR.

I wanted the speaker wire to travel through that rubber boot. However, VW placed a large wire connection receptical at the entrance. Oh well...

Yay for dash tweeter installs :D

BTW, what kind of large format tweet is that? I'm thinking of trying some XT19 or Northcreek tweets in my van's dash sometime....

The components are in my signature. They are Dayton RS28A's. I love those tweets.

So no sibilance issues with them firing at the windshield...? Are you using the HU or amp for EQing..? All I have at the moment is my Pioneer 5500 and it's limited in what it can do. As soon as my amp arrives, I'm going to tinker w/xover settings and see if it fixes my issue...

Stealth installs are great...

Looks great - where are you XOing the Daytons at?

I think they are at 1.7kHz or 2kHz @18 dB slope. The sibilance does not seem to be an issue for me. Maybe it's there and I do not notice? I am using the Alpine's x-over with no EQ'ing at all. I am sure I need to though.

I'm so jealous of your stock locations!

Thanks - looks like I am going to pick up the Pioneer 880 to go active with my Dayton RS180/28A set up.

Funny you should mention that. I think I am going to do the same thing with MY Dayton setup. :D

I was able to drill out a hole large enough to pass 12g wire. Just be careful the drill doesn't slip ;)

Also, I dropped the rs28s into the same locations in my jetta last summer. they really work well up there :D

I am in the process of glassing a sub enclosure in the hatch behind the rear well area. I will update with those pics as well. I am using this car for practice for my R32!

I recently completed my first fiberglassing project. No one tells you that fiberglass is like cotton candy on steroids! It sticks to everything. After I made my initial shell inside the car and popped it out I noticed that I needed more volume. So I added some hardware cloth to the "roof" of the enclosure to bring the top lip almost flush with the driver. This addition gave me the needed space that I needed without trying to figure out how to fiberglass upside down in the car. Using the very "scientific" packing peanuts method I calculated about .65 cu.ft. of space. Without using any fiberfill I have no rattles or buzzing. I hear a positive difference from my old .5 cu.ft. plywood box.

This is the freshly popped mold:

Makes me want get off my lazy ass and start working on mine... it's just too bad i can't fit .9cu.ft there for my 12" Diamond sub... :(

Btw, how many layers have you done to get that thickness?
