Hello, folks. I’ve been visiting this site almost daily for a number of months and have learned literally tons about things that I knew existed in car audio and even more about concepts/principles/applications about which I previously had no clue. There are some very knowledgeable, experienced people that are members of this forum and I want to thank you all for broadening my horizons and contributing to my education in the car audio world.

I’d probably be considered to be an “old guy” by most of the members of the forum, but that’s OK. You’re never too old to learn, I don’t care what it is.

Anyway, I used to have pretty good systems in my vehicles in years past and did most of my own upgrades (HU’s, speakers, amps), but I always KNEW there was more to it. I just never found/made the time to explore further. And then life kinda got in the way and most things like car audio took a back seat for awhile.

So now I’m at a point where I’m starting over in life and I’m going to do the things that make ME happy, not someone else, and one of those things happens to be listening to music. At home and in my vehicle. I’ve already benefited from the exposure to this forum with respect to my car (an early model Porsche 944) and have mapped out a tentative plan for a system to install. It’ll most likely be a year or so down the road, but that is OK. Gives me some time to digest some more info from DIYMA in the meantime.

I won’t be able to contribute much for awhile, but I will eventually. Again, I want to say “thank you” to all the members that have contributed to my recently revived education on all aspects of car audio. Keep up the great posts and unfettered flow of information and this forum shall be long lived, indeed.

Welcome Ric,

Hey there are a few "older" members on here. Actually as far as car forums go this one seems to have more elders than most of the others. Anyways........I hope you enjoy DIYMA. And always enjoy the music!:D

cheesehead, bobditts and phatredpt, thank you for the welcome. And of course, thank you npdang for making such a thing as DIYMA possible in the first place. Ya'll probably won't see me post much for quite awhile, but someday I will give back to the forum for that which I've received.

And as far as getting old is concerned....seems like just yesterday I was still considering myself to be a Dirty Young Man. Graduation to DOM status kinda snuck up on me. Ha! And I'll ALWAYS enjoy the music, come what may.

Thanks, again guys.

By the way, phatredpt, what kind of car do you drive? I think I can guess from the "pt" portion, but I'd rather " know" than "think I know".

Yep.. PT Cruiser Touring Edition (at least it's a 5 speed!)
It ain't fast... but it is comfortable... and sounds decent... inside ;)

The wealth of information here is second to none! (excellent members)
My thank you list would run pages from the help and information (and equipment) I have been lucky enough to receive from others here! :)

Yea, I figured you had a PT Cruiser. I'd guess it is probably red, also. Good color. My 944 is red. Love it. But for a 944, mine is not too fast...I've got the early model and it kinda runs out of breathing room around 130 mph. Lots of fun getting to that point, though!:D

And from what I've seen so far, I can see you are correct in your opinion of this forum. My brain is still spinning after about 4months of reading. Can't wait to try some of things the I've read up on.
