Default Forester dash midrange install

Tempory Dash install until I breakout the fiberglass

The midrangers sound a little hollow because of the tappered pvc elbow. But all-in-all I am enjoying the sounds I am replacing the Seas MP12VCs for the Audax HM100C0s. The custom dash pod will have a slightly different angle toward the middle of the front seats but still mounted high to keep the gauge cluster out of the sound path. I need to move the mid back so it doesn't block my air vent. The pod will vent into a ~4in hole in the dash, which I have already cut . There is a little more then a liter under the dash once I get it sealed and an extra .5-.6 liters with the pod.

I wonder if I should vent or possibly make an aperiodic vent... any suggestions?

The Aura Silk Monopoles sound great. But I am interested in other tweeter options and I think they would be better suited for a home install I have planned.

Upgrades wanted: Seas L21, CA21, Peeless SLS, Dayton RS225-08... The baskets on most of the Peerless woofers are to friggin' big for my doors.

Pictures kinda suck because they are from my cell.

I feel your pain on the doors. I have an '06 X myself. There aren't many mids that will fit without a ton of modification to the doors or the door panel.

So are you going to ditch the pvc when you glass it?

O, nice!

I'm so tempted to throw some smaller mids on the dash in my car too, but no funds

you got balls my man! People call me nuts for having 4 speakers in each of my doors. Since you went this far why don't you modify the doors to fit 8s? You got a mid that crosses low and everything. I got the peerless xls and I love it!

The Audax HT (eBay budget woofers) that I have in there now are 8s. It's more of a basket size problem. The hole in my door is only 115 mm and I cannot cut too much around it because of the power window regulator motor (which I have already accidently drilled into). I wish I could go with those Peerless XLS 8s they sure are nice looking.

I haven't gotten any coments on my car or my sanity, yet. My other car is fully stripped so people were not too suprised to see the hole in my dash (it's one of those moments where you see them just shaking theiy head).

I absolutely wanted a higher imagaing front install after I got a taste from a friend's install.

I am lucky to have the passenger side airbag mounted in the dash above the glove compartment. The pods will not be a problem.

Until my midrangers arrive, I will be researching more on plastic/fiberglass fabrication. I have already bought a bunch of different epoxies, fillers, resin, tools, etc.) I also need to modify my door panels to fit over the midbass drivers.

Beofre you solidify the mount:

point the left one at the middle of your face and the right the same for the passenger but make the right one a little more towards center.

Once you time align them you will find this position to be a lot more dynamic.

How deep are those Audax mids? Did I read correctly that they were 8"s?

Have you modified your door panels in anyway?

You read correctly. I did no modifications to the door. I did have to make 1.5" baffle speaker rings. The door panels will not go back on without modification though.
