does anyone remember this tweeter?
http://www.d-s-t.com.au/data/Vifa/D26NC-05-06.pdf If memory serves me right, A/d/s used these back when in their flagship components, and they were considered very good...Can anyone give me insight to that? I'm thinking about picking up a set...... |

Is this the tweeter found in the old Nakamichi comps? I believe the old McIntosh comps also?

I have(and are using them) those tweeters
![]() They are very mellow tweeters. I hate tweeters that are bright. These fit my needs perfectly. |

Sounds right, as i believe these were introduced somewhere around 92ish.....
I was going to mate them to some MW160's running them active off my PRS880 and Arc audio Kar 300.4......Anyone feel they would work well together of otherwise? |

I'm using a set of these in my "computer" speakers, teamed with a pair of Vifa PL11WH09-08 that are/were on sale at Madisound. They sound great. I have them playing from 5k but they can go to 3k with a 6db/oct. Higher slopes will allow you to go even lower if you desire. Personally, I'm not a fan of xovers and therefore go as simple as possible.

I remember those, always wanted a set, but in those days they weren't attainable for me...
You can get those tweets for cheap now, like here http://www.oregondv.com/Vifa_Speakers_D26NC-05-06.htm Put that set back together now

Got a set of those in the basement. I was going to use those in my speakers too but the 4.5" Vifas looked too good and I wanted to try them. The CD's are great drivers with few defects in their sound. Solid low end with a relaxed midbass and midrange. Not real articulate but great in IB.
BTW, the PL11s are sounding great (took about 30 hours to break-in) in 3 liters ported. |

I have 4 of the aforementioned tweets if anyone needs them. I'm not using them, and they've never seen power. I even have some of the angle mounts I picked up from Madisound, and the flush cups. Good tweets.
BTW, Soundstream used them in the Exact sets at one point, too. |

If A/D/S used them, it must have been really long ago, maybe the 320is. I had a pair of 345is and the dome is a different material. I also have two of the newer Vifas from Madisound. They have a silk dome whereas the A/D/S was a poly dome. I didn't have the tweeters concurrently so I can't say how similar they sounded, but both were excellent. They are smooth, that's for sure. They lack a little detail compared to my Morels, but they are much smoother. They are a very nice laid back tweeter and a great bargain.
BTW, I'll sell my old Vifas if anyone wants them. |

I agree, a very smooth sounding mellow tweeter. Not much top end though- it rolls off as seen in the response graphs. Flush mount cups were metal and the color was slighlty gray rather than black so it didn't match the tweeter.
