Default Hyundai Scoupe advice/idea's

So here is the deal, I am getting rid of the Maggie, selling off most of the equipment and going KISS. The new ride is a beater/commuter car, gas is over $3.50 gal and for the next few months while I am planning my new restaurant and building it I have a 100 mile commute in a Dodge Magnum(OUCH!!!). I found a 92 Scoupe with 91K on it for $1000 and it is PRISTINE!!! I couldnt pass it up. Anyway here is the plan, I am going to go with a PRS880and the rest is up in the air, sortof.... I have a mid 90's PPI4050 (2x40 + 150)for the amp that I am SERIOUSLY considering using, it is basically NOS with all the plugs. For the speakers I am completely open,I have a set of PRS-720 mids I can use but no higs and an eD e12o.44 flatcone that I can use but would rather go with a 10" sub that I can run IB and hang it from the rear deck. I have a budget of $600 for everything I need to buy including the deadening, speakers, wires, and accesories. The factory locations are SH!T in the car, no door locations so I can put speakers anywhere I want, kicks, doors, dash, Apillars. Any and all help/suggestions is greatly appreciated. Oh and by the way, there is no stereo in it at this point so i am planning on doind this in the next few weeks.

How often do you get the opportunity to work with a blank canvas? Very cool!

I'd definitely be tearing into the car to deaden what I could to reduce the road noise. Have fun going on the cheap with it too! See what you can buy off others or get on sale online. You could find the next forum boner!

$10 roadmaster speakers

$590 worth of damplifier pro.

let us know when you have more money.

seriously, i'd do at least enough deadener for the doors. put some luxury liner pro down in the floor boards.

you can get 5.25" MB Quart QSD comps for $230 shipped on ebay. Those would sound pretty nice active or passive. Use hte sub you have now.

If you go passive, get a stout 4 channel amp to power it.

at least, that's what i'd do...

Thats funny!!! I was actually thinking of using the PRS mids and adding a set of nicer highs to go with them, something in the $100 a pair range, deadening the doors, trunk lid and rear deck, buying a new carpet kit off JC Whitney(not part of the $$$)and putting somekind of deadener under that and calling it a day.

How about building some kicks for those mids, add in some Vifa or similar low-buck tweets, the 880 you mentioned, and here's a budget IB 10.

My thoughts.
Get a pair of Seas Neo Texts or Alums. Make a pair of kicks for the mids and tweets. Pick up a AES IB15. The rest in basic wiring and deadening. That would give you about 400-450 for deadening wiring.

EDIT: Oh, if you can fit them..have a look at the HDS Tweeters. Put them in the kicks also.

Anyone else have a suggestion for either 2x8" IB Subs or a single 10" IB sub?

In all honesty, I don't think I would go any smaller than a 15" for IB. Cone area is king. Is there any specific reason why you don't want a 15"? Are you opposed to making a baffle behind your rear seat?

Not oposed to it at all, just not sure how it will sound. The seats are REALLY thick and padded. The reason for using either 8's or 10 is because I can hang them from the deck and let them play thru. I have had 15's before and find them to generally sound better than 12's but I am afraid that with only 150 watts it may not be enough power to play thru the wall of foam.

I have a lexus es300, and I have a Dayton IB15 playing through the seats fine off ~75 watts.

The reason I recommended the AES driver is that on paper it looks to be able to outperform the Dayton. I plan on switching out when time and money allow.
