Amperage Test?

How to test to find out how many amps im drawing from well my amps? I don't want to beat up the electrical system in my car with these old school monsters. Can it be done on a simple meter?

If you already have a dmm that will read milivolts you could get something like this

Look at your amp's fuses, then buy some lower rated ones. Try going down with the fuse rating until one blows, then multiply that fuse's amperage by the amount of fuses your amp takes...that should get you pretty close for only a few $$.

I've got a $10 meter from sears. To make it easier I'm basically looking how much a soundstream class a 10.0 draws @ 1 ohm

with just a dmm you will have to use some type of shunt to measure any significant current

From what I know pretty much the only way is an amp clamp, and even then its hard to read as it fluctuates up and down, unless maybe you were playing one bass tone for a long period of time.
