Default pg xenon amp, ok to use 8 ohm driver?

the pg xenon amps provide full power from 1-4 ohms, is it ok use an 8 ohm driver on these amps?

im sure there will be a loss of power (35%) but will damage occur?

No damage to the amp, just won't be running at rated power.

your question initially made me think 'Duh!', but now it makes me wonder, how much power would you be losing going to 8 ohm....

it would be interesting to see a bench test of an amp that provides the same output from 1 - 4 ohms at a higher impedance....

I'm back in the game!!!!!!

Reg - 96!!! ; BEC- 80 ; FARE - 85!!; Audit - 91!!

my 100.4 runs the hell out of my 8 ohm morel tweets...and i'm one of those nuts that refuses to run anything less than 75rms to each tweet for the sake of headroom. tried 50rms once and the blandness was horrendous. went up to 75rms and the sparkle returned.

I heard from Zapco a good rule of thumb is 40% loss going from 4 ohm to 8 ohm.

Don't know how that applies across different designs.

if you use one of the full range xenons and bridge it, it will run full power at 8 ohms on the bridge
