Been messing with this setup forever, finally finished it.The system consist of 2-12"IDv.3's(debucked/on a 1.5" baffle),ID NX30 tweets,7'"Dayton Ref. mid. All running active off a Alpine9813 & Directed Audio D2205(5-ch's.)installed under the reardeck. The only thing left to do is to seal the 6x9 holes. These subs sound amazing IB but I was thinking of trying out the Daytons 12" HF's,besides they have a better looking arse compared to ID's.What do u guyz/girlz think, any questions feel free to ask.Thx 4 looking..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0659.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0658.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0657.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0655.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0654.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0653.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/louski/IMG_0656.jpg

output levels are probably a little low with the 6x9 holes open, lotsof cancellation :( . Once you get those sealed up it will be real nice.

Thanx for the compliments ,output is really good considering the subs are only getting about 140w each & 60/40 seats that have sheetmetal on the back of the seats.Skydeaner as for cancellation I wont know the difference till the holes are sealed up but thnx for the tip.I would like to try out some Daytons HF's so I can drive 'em at 2ohms with each getting about 200w.Forgot to mention the mids hp @ 80hz/6db slope,lp @ 2.5khz/18db slope, tweets @ 2.5khz & up w/18db slope & the sub is set @ 63hz/24db slope.

Look at all that trunk space!!!

You can fit at least 2 dead hookers back there.

Kudos!!

LOL w/ that dead comment :D

Very stealthy install, I'm running IB too, but my trunk is a mess. You gave me some inspiration to do some work in the coming weeks. :)

I love the cleanliness of that setup. Do you have ANY issues at all running your amp upside down like that? I could fit a third amp (using the Aura RPMStage2's) if I mount them like you did, and more power is more better- I could also go totally active.

What you sicko, isnt that called nacrophyllia? I would much rather keep them alive that way their throats stay much warmer, and it doesnt tickle so much :)

I've seen other installs where the amps are upside down so I figure I give it a try,so far no problemo.I was stressin' on where to put the amp,til I saw some others installs done like this & all the controls are easy to reach too.

can any sub be used IB or if not what should i look for in the T/S?

Fozz

Any sub will work. But not all will work well. I would suggest using a sub with a high Qts. The Qts describes the shape of knee at the rolloff point. So a low Q has a gradual knee while a high Q has a steeper knee. I find butterworth alignment to be the best compromise for an ideal filter. So if you would agree with that then you should look for a woofer with a Qts close to 0.7. But if you prefer a shallower cutoff and possibly better transient response you may like a lower Q.

So like everything else in car audio, it's about trial and error. But at least you should know have an idea of where to start. I'm using 2 12" Alpine Type X woofers in my car. IB of course!

so would 3-10s with a Qts of .48 or 2-12s with a Qts of .63

which one would work better?

Basically what Fozz said is on the money, especially the last paragraph.Would like to see that Alpine setup though.

It's not really a matter of what is bad, good or better. Rather each speaker will react differently. So, I would say the first question you should ask you self is, what type of bass do I want? If you have that answer, then finding a sub that will work IB for you will be easier.

One other thing I look for in an IB sub, is coil travel and the possibliity of the coil coming into contact with the back plate. Again one of the reasons I choose the Alpine unit. I've also had a tonn of sucksess with JBL's Gti. It works really well in IB.
