ok so i installed my system and everything went pretty smooth and then i decided to change the amp location from attached to the back seats to the spare tire well. wired everything up right and now the music cuts out every couple of seconds.
I faded the deck all the way right and every thing was fine no cutting then the same to the left and noticed the problem reversed the wiring switched channels and no problem but the other side this time It has to be one of the channels on my amp right? I just dont understand i havent even used the amp it wa sitting in my room for 2 years was working now all of a sudden this could it be something else or should i take it to a local service station thnx |

It sure sounds like RCA's to me. Try reversing them at the head unit instead of the amp to rule out potential problems farther up the signal chain, as well.

So 2ch of your RCA's will power either the tweeters or the mids fine, but the other 2ch won't power either without problems, correct?
You've reversed the RCA's at the head unit and the "known" good set is still good and the "bad" set is still bad, right? If I'm following you correctly, it has to be the RCA's. |

yes except when they are wired normally they cut out but the mids and tweets are still playing. when i fade the speakers all the way to the right there is no cut out when they are inthe middle and to the left it cuts out when i switch the rcas so i switch the 2 mid rcas with the 2 tweet rcas there is no cut out but the mids dont play i hope that makes sence |

Does your amp have an input selector(ie. one set of rca's will allow you to power all 4ch if activated)?
If so, make sure this is selrcted off. I know it sounds too simple, but I had a simliar problem and finally traced it to this very simple mistake. Also... try using the good set along with your subs rca's to see if the problem is just the rca's. |

Recheck your speaker connections, specifically everything on the left side. It only takes one strand of copper wire to accidentally ground a speaker. I'd check at the amp first since this is where you made your new connections.
Is it possible you pierced a speaker wire with a screw somewhere by mistake? |

I'm at a loss. I guess at this point I'd conclude it may be the amp.
In a last ditch effort to prove otherwise, I'd unhook everything and start over leaving all wiring exposed for trouble shooting purposes... but that's me. ![]() If you've triple checked everything and are sure you've made no mistakes, it must be the amp... |
