I am serious about wanting one. I have a CD7100 and I absolutely love it. There's a few control quirks but having 1)a deadhead would help with less clutter, and 2)bluetooth would help the few times I get a phone call. Plus whatever audio improvement is always welcome, and having the microphone is just the cherry on top.

I just want to know for how long will this deal be available, as I"m a teacher and in the summer I'm usuallly poor, so I won't have much money until early august, and i would rather wait until then than use up all my money right now.

Nice, would love to be able to get in on the deal as I think other than the stenciling on the face plate, it looks to be an awesome headunit, but not only have I not been here quite 6 months, I don't have the $$$ sitting around either. LOL :)

But it would be nice to have first hand comparison to the 800PRS.I would like to hear more comparison feedback as well. I almost bought an 880PRS but kept hearing feedback that the CD8053 sounded better and the higher output voltage was really noticeble.

As cool as the PRS800 looks, In my mind I think the CD7200 MKII probably sounds better based on what I read? Again, it would be nice to hear the two side by side. Would love to hear more feedback from others also.

Nonetheless, as I look around for a new deck.....the CD7200 MKII keeps poping up in my head so I might be in for one?

That is their goal, although not so much on the 'downsizing' of products at least. Their objective with the 7200 was to go back to their roots and begin again what once had them held in higher playing fields.

They actually police the internet and forbid sales.
They Still have a 3 year warranty (dealer installed)
They Still utilize ESN (dealer installed)
They expedite defectives (dealer installed)

Who else can lay claim to this?

I am actually quite happy that CC will stop selling Eclipse products because it is an absolute disgrace to have MTX Jackhammers and Jensen/JVC/Sony head unit's and subs next to top Eclipse products. The only unfortunate thing is that I don't know of ANY Eclipse dealers in my area :(

Our store still has vacant holes on the shelves where Eclipse products used to be... and all the displays are now open box to get rid of them :(

Well, it is really unfortunate that I cannot get into this, as I was pretty excited about it.

However, for those interested, I think that besides a couple of quirks, the 7200 should be a really nice unit to have. I have the 7100 and here are some of my thoughts:

1)Look is subjective, but I like it a lot. Not as much as the 800prs, but I still think it's a very nice looking deck. My biggest complaint is the asymmetry and all the small seals of 8v, ipod, usb, this and that. I"m sure people that buy the deck already know what are its features so why have them up front? I'm sure this is the same as the CD7200.

2)The multi purpose control is helpful. I mean, most things are done with that wheel. However, one needs to get a hold of it correctly, otherwise one skips songs instead of changing settings. I"m sure it's the same as the CD7200 also. So this is something not very cool, but that can be overcome with some practice.

3)Audio quality is superb. When I first had it I had some Alpine SPX-177r's for the front, and now some SR6500's. Going active has been really easy and I love how I can control a lot of the aspects of the music. Choosing which bands to equalize, (11 total), etc is just very welcome. I am no audio expert but I have been able to get some very nice results by tinkering with all the crossovers, slopes, time alignment, etc. The 7200 can only be slightly better with the copper chassis and the lack of a built in amplifier (which the 800prs still has).

4)The features on the 7100 are pretty standard. I had to buy the ipod cable, but I"m glad I did. The USB is HORRIBLE, and I don't expect it to change on the 7200, but it's a feature I"m not using except for importing settings. The features were substandard as there is only album numbers and they're not in order, so finding music was a pain, plus no id3's that I recall. However, with the ipod and lossless files it has been excellent. Choosing music, playing playlists, random stuff, it's all very easy and intuitive, it just sucks having to spend extra for the adapter, but oh well. I suppose bluetooth must be nice for those that use the phone, but we'll see. I never used the GPS or the maps for the 7100, and I"m glad they're out of the 7200, the screen was not really made for that.

So, I think the 7200 must be a great head unit. I hope I don't have to pay that much for it (415 would have been great though! :( ), but I'm certainly willing to upgrade.

I do hope that this is a start for Eclipse though, if they only fix the control for future hu's, which is the 7100's biggest problem, I will be looking forward to their new offerings.

Yea, I ment downsizing as a company/manufacturer. But that's good to hear that they are going to back to their ways of the glory days. I have always owned Eclipse decks, so this is certainly encouraging from a consumer standpoint. I still have yet to see any of their new amplifiers used in installs... they seem to be right on par with the PDX category.

Don't expect that order to be filled soon. I ordered a 7200 through my CC accomodations and that was over 3 months ago and I have yet to see anything from Eclipse. All I get when I call is "it will be shipped at the end of the month." Again, they have said this for 3 months now.

Problem is, I just got a PDX-5 and it won't let me do that so I am looking around for other options and this looks attractive. I like it that I can adjust everything up front.
