Hello All,

If you saw the title of this thread, you know why you are here.

I am trying to convince Scott Buwalda of Hybrid Audio Technologies to offer a special discount to DIYMA members for a limited time to celebrate our grand opening of our new store. He is watching this thread and will give his final decision based on the response.

The proposed discount is 20% off. This is almost unheard of for a price protected product. I am really trying to push him here on the discount, so please voice you opinions and please be honest about your intentions. If I can get this past him, you will be one of the few people who have ever gotten a discount on these.

Please post your interest as a buyer. (honestly please) Please do not make this a "brand A is better than brand B because I own brand A" thread.

Great news.

This group buy is a very good possibility. I have taked to Scott about it and if he approves it, there is one major rule that will apply: You cannot have a dealer within 35 miles of you. If you do, you will not be eligible for the group buy.

The proposed discount on the table is on all HAT products.

Doesn't seem very fair for it to work that way, really isn't a group buy then. More of a "sale" for your shop. I'm sure there is a HAT dealer in or near Austin, TX so I would not be included.

Well, according to Hybrids dealers page http://www.hybrid-audio.com/dealers.htmthe closest dealer to you is in New Braunfels TX. If that is closer to you than 35 miles, you will not be able to participate in the group buy. This is done to protect dealer territories and is not necessarily for a sale for our store, but to provide a sale for people outside a dealers serviceable area. If you are within the 35 miles of an authorized dealer, I'm sure HAT will alow you to purchase there at the discounted price. (if this sale is approved and if the dealer will sell it to you for that price)

One of the guys on the forum (shtoops) had borrowed the mic of my 880 to tune his system. He mentioned he had gotten a coupon for 25% off his 3-way set up. So I'd like to suggest 25% off. I'd be interested in getting a pair of those bad-ass looking tweeters.

That sounds fair then...may even save shipping. New Braunfels is more than 35 miles from me, so it looks like I can participate. I just wanted to make sure everyone gets the same deal.

That is much better than any MAP pricing that he may have given you. Even at the old (almost one year old) price he gave you,

I'm sure you will not get it cheaper than this group buy if it is approved.

the way people think makes me laugh,

if you want a driver buy it,

not buying it until its 20% off is madness imo.

you either want it or you dont, does $60 make that much difference to you?

i ran the L3 for 18 months, beautiful/amazing driver.

i eventually killed the suspension with too much volume/power/lows.

"20% off or i dont want it" lmao.

youd rather listen to an inferior driver than drop the extra 20% into the driver you really want?

This looks very promising guys.

To one of the posters regarding Austin, TX...we don't quite have anyone up to speed in Austin yet, so you're in the clear. If you *are* within 35 miles of a dealer, I will contact that dealer on your behalf and coordinate the same group buy price. This includes Randy Shorb in Tulsa, with Boomer's Audio, if you're indeed interested in a set of L4's.

On another note, if anyone's iunterested, I should have the first run of black anodized L1 Pro tweeters in about a month or so. I got my first prototype in the other day, and they can be seen here: http://www.buwaldahybrids.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=91

Don't know where that came from, but since $60.00 means nothing to you I will send you my paypal addy and you can deposit the $60.00:D Seriously though , I already run the L3's and thought hey what a great time to move up to the L4's. This will also get some people who were on the fence about trying Hybrid Audio products to go ahead and do it. 20% brings the cost of the 631 set down from about $780.00 to around $624.00. Almost $160.00.

Before I had a chance to install the L3's, I had just the L6 and L1 playing, I was pretty impressed, until I got the L3's dialed in properly I actually preferred it in two way....

another comment I made was that I think the L6 makes a better midrange than the L3, it just doesn't fit on my dash as well, got some laughs, but I wasn't even kidding.

The details are still up in the air. The free shipping would most likely not be vaild on the group buy. Our shipping rates are reasonable, so you will be much better off taking the 20% rather than taking the free shipping.

There is one more issue concerning the group buy that has come up.

On August 1st Hybrid had a price increase for all of thier items. It was actually a very reasonable increase as compared to most other manufacturers.

We were allowed to keep our current pricing until our current stock ran out. We do have everything in stock, but with the current interest in this group buy, we will most likely be reordering very quickly, so some of the first people who act on this group buy will be a bit luckier then the later ones.

Here are the new prices:

Clarus C51-2: $489.99
Clarus C61-2: $519.99
L1: $149.99
L3: $249.99
L4: $299.99
L6: $459.99
L8: $559.99
L31-2: $379.99
L41-2: $429.99
L61-2: $589.99
L631-3: $839.99
L641-3: $889.99
L831-3: $939.99
L841-3: $989.99
L1 PRO: $339.99
L31-2 PRO: $569.99
L41-2 PRO: $619.99
L61-2 PRO: $779.99
L81-2 PRO: $879.99
L631-3 PRO: $1029.99
L641-3 PRO: $1079.99
L831-3 PRO: $1129.99
L841-3 PRO: $1179.99

These prices are all per pair.

So, let me say it again: Our current internet prices will be valid as long as we have the items in our current stock. As soon as we have to re-order, the prices will be the ones shown above, so please keep this in mind.

This is most likely going to happen. We are just waiting on final approval and working out the details. The goal is to start on this Wednesday, and if all goes well it will. I can tell you that it will not happen before then, so you have a day and a half to empty you penny jars, mow a couple of dozen lawns, get a second job, pull a trick, whatever.

Hello All,

I have been sent TON'S of PM’s and emails of people asking me to let them be the first on the list. I think I have a fair way of doing this so that the early buyers get the best price.

At precisely 10am CST on Friday August 29th, I will post an official group buy in the Supporting Vendors Specials section. Here is the forum, but obviously there is no thread there for the group buy yet.: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29

(oops, I just saw this thread got towed there. The new Title will be “12v Electronics presents: Group buy for Hybrid Audio Technologies” )

Here are the rules:

1. You cannot be within 35 miles of an authorized dealer to participate in the group buy. You can check the dealer’s page at Hybrid to see if there is a dealer in your area. http://www.hybrid-audio.com/dealers.htm . If you are within 35 miles, please email me and I will check to see if the dealer will honor the group buy price.

2. This offer is only valid in the U.S.A. All international orders have to be processed through Hybrid Audio Technologies and this group buy price will not apply.

3. Our guaranteed 3pm CST same day shipping offer will not apply to items we are most likely to run out of with the tremendous response to this group buy. Any backordered unit will be shipped as soon as it is received. You will also have the option of shipping the items in 2 seperate shipments if need be.

4. The group buy will last 14 days.

NOW READ THE IMPORTANT PART:

To be fair to everyone, this will be the way to hold your place in line for the old pricing:

You must post in this group buy thread (the one that will start on Friday at 10am CST)(as per above) what items you will purchase.

For example:
L841-3

This is all that is necessary and will hold your place in line for the lowest price possible. You will also need to email tom@12velectronics.com (me) with your member name, Paypal email address and zip code to calculate shipping. You can also call me at 630-687-1961 with credit card information. The shipping will be the prices quoted on our website: www.12velectronics.com . You can add your items to the cart there and calculate the shipping prior to purchase if you would like to know the final cost before you purchase.

If you choose Paypal, I will send a Paypal invoice to your email address. You will have 12 hours to complete payment, otherwise the next person in line will get the lower price. (if applicable). Should the next person in line complete payment at the new price and the previous buyer not complete payment in the 12 hours, a refund will be processed on the credit card or Paypal.

This offer is also valid on Bimmerforums.com, so we will go with the time stamp on the post. If there are 2 posts marked at the same time, I think there is no fair way other than to flip a coin. Since DIYMA has more posts in this current thread, it will get Heads and BF.c will get tails. Sound scientific enough? :D I hold no favorites, so I promise I will be fair in this situation.

To recap:

1. At 10am CST this Friday, August 29, 2008 (that’s 11am EST, 8am PST etc.) *EDIT post your desired purchases in the new thread that will be created in the New Vendor’s Specials section. Titled “12v Electronics presents: Group buy for Hybrid Audio Technologies”

2. Send an email to tom@12velectronics.com with your member name, Paypal email address and ZIP code, or if you want to pay by credit card, your telephone number, name and the best time to call you. You can also call me at directly at 630-687-1961.

I know this seems complicated, but if you would see the abundance of messages I have from people wanting to be the first on the list to get the best prices, you will see why I am doing this.

If you are not able to get the price before the increase, please know that you are still getting 20% off the MSRP. You will not find a better deal anywhere. HAT was generous enough to allow us to sell our current stock at the prices we paid for it before the price increase. We will gladly offer this price to the forum members, but please understand that whenever we have to reorder, we will also be charged this price increase. Luckily, we have a decent supply of all Hybrid products, but I think we will run out very quickly with the response of this group buy.

Fixed. Thanks for clarifying. I guess I can't do math well :)

The group buy is not official until tomorrow. This thread was originally just a poll to see if the group buy was a possibility. The new thread will officially be in the Vendor's specials section and is where the orders need to take place.

benny z
08-29-2008, 09:30 AM
honest opinion - w/ the 61-2 set there will be no need for 6x9 mids. the 61-2 set has some serious midbass when properly installed.

clarus v/s legatia completely depends on your crossover needs.

personally, the clarus 6 and legatia 6 are very comparable. however i do like the l1 slightly better than the clarus 1. although as a 2-way setup you would probably be better off with the l1 pro paired with the l6.

clarus is the easy way to do it.

if you are up for a day trip, i am not far from you in bloomington il, and have both the legatia and clarus installed in our cars if you would like an audition.
