Anything is possible, if the interest is there.

This site is pretty well laid out for specs on all the products.
Only bad thing is the annoying sound effects embedded in the site, so turn your sound down...

chuyler1
09-11-2008, 10:54 PM
The 6.3 probably sounds better...assuming you have a spot to install the 3" domes. If you are just looking for a drop-in replacement to factory speakers then the 6.2 would be the better option. I can't speak about the nobelium series but I know my 6.3 set is the best set of speakers I've ever owned.

Personally I prefer the more natural sound of the Iridiums, but would love to incorporate the bit more of the stout output the Nobeliums midbass offers.

The Iridium 6.3 set installed in my previous car, 2002 BMW 325i, with time alignment and active crossovers = my favorite setup ever. I have been missing that setup ever since I got rid of that car (too many mechanical problems). Awesome awesome set, IMO.

Sedan - I used all factory locations up front. With time alignment and separate L+R EQ and amplitude control (RF 3Sixty.2) it came out fantastic :)

In the trunk I had an SI Mag D2 12" in a sealed box w/ fiberglass bottom / wooden top (mounted amps to the top plate) - then covered it with a false floor. Really quite a simple setup.

Would the Iridium 6.5" mid work well with a set of Nobelium tweeters?
I already have the tweeters lying around and would like to get some matching DLS mids.
Unfortunately the Nobelium mids are just too expensive for me.
But the Iridium mids are within my budget.

I dont see why not if your running active, I am not sure if the passive networks are the same, I know they cross them both over at 3.8khz. The Nobelium tweeter is just alittle bit brighter than the Iridium tweet, should match up fine.

nice. How would the Iridium 6.2 sound in passive crossover with TruTechnology S44 amp dual mono? I want to use their line driver as well, to help the signal along from the Eclipse 3200 hu I'm looking at.
For speakers, I am also looking at Rainbow CMX-265kick. A little more within my budget, but man these DLS have some glowing reviews around them.

Actually quite a common setup...

The Nob tweet has sharper highs than the iridium, so for those who think the iridium tweet is too soft, this was a common step.

On the other hand, Nobelium Mids and Iridium tweets, I would not recommend.

Iridium Tweet is a bit too laid back (Not enough brightness) to match with the more agressive Nobelium mid

Im not sure what you mean by European and American style of sound. That being said, SQ is subjective and there are camps that believe that amps have no sonic characteristics. If you can, try to hear them for yourself

subwoofery
11-25-2008, 03:12 AM
As previously said, "most" (don't flame me for that quote lol) European amps have a more laid back, warm and sweet kind of sound.
Whereas American amps have a more dynamic, foot tumping, powerful kind of sound.

And I have read on a forum that the DLS Reference series are more Europeen and that the DLS Ultimate series are more American.

I know some believe that amps have no sonic characteristics, but I do "STRONGLY" believe that amps do have a sonic signature...
