Not exactly DIY or quality work, but this is the POS river radio I'm throwing together. We decided we needed some tunes while floatin' the river this year. I'm using an old Kicker 4 channel amp I had layin' around, old truck batt, Premier 860mp, RE 8" sub, and Dayton 5 1/4"s & 7"s & tweets. :D
Let the flaming begin.....

All I have left is to make the sub enclosure and get the ext/int rhino lined.
You putting a marine cover over the head unit?
I am getting ready to build something similar for the ATV but it will have an integrated cooler :)

Put a couple of layers of resin over the MDF! On another forum, there was a guy that built his out of an old cooler!

Don't know yet. I'm gonna wire everything up tonight and let her go. I figure if I can listen to the radio on my truck, while the p/u is off, for 4+ hours with a lot more power than this thing is running...... she should be good for at least 3 hours if not more. I'm not gonna have this thing cranked the entire time we're using it. If the batt does not last I'll pull the Optima out of my p/u for our floats.

I was thinking of using some resin over the MDF before I get it lined. Sounds like a little cheap insurance, may as well right! I have seen the ones made out of coolers..... I thought about going that route, but decided this would kill more time.

Is it going to be an all in 1 unit or will the sub enclosure be seperate?
What did you use for crossovers between the mids/midbass/tweets?

I'm making the sealed enclosure for the sub tonight, it will just sit about where the sub is now.
I'm using two Dayton passive crossovers for the mids and tweets and running them of the first two channels on the amp. The sub will get it's signal from the sub output on the h/u and take the second two channels of the amp.
I wanted to go active but I was not too sure about the room I would have to work with inside the box. Well, I am pretty sure I have enough room left and I do have and ancient 2 channel MTX I may have to throw in there :D
