So I went up to my grandma's cabin in Big bear, CA to do some cleaning for her to prepare it for sale. My late grandfather was quite the tinkerer and had many antique radio parts laying about amongst other things. I found some cool old speakers down in the basement that I would like to share with you guys:
I'll start with the real oddball. Notice the horshoe magnet motor design with the little coil and pin. You can't see it but the pin is attached to a little sheet of copper inside the coil.

Now here's the wierd part. I've never seen anything like this before. The pin is attached to the back of the cone and there is no spider. Don't ask cause I don't have a clue.

Dan wiggins, I hate to break it to you buddy, but someone beat you to that parthenon spider design say, oh, 75 years ago.

An old Altec Lansing... before Altec.

Jensen, The name insures the quality. Not anymore it doesn't.

When I say spider I am NOT referring to a suspension component.

Maybe they should have stuck to building speakers...

Hope you enjoyed my blast from the past.
