Just picked this up. Plan on doing a "simple" install with horns, midbass, and a single sub. Have to finish up the 'ol Tahoe before I can get started.

Man I'm gonna get ribbed for this...... I've always liked that style of trans am, Cool car!
Pardon me asking what you gave for it? The new garage is coming next spring as will a project car, I was looking into vettes to build up but that would be a fun project.
Where are you located? I notice the flat land and vast feilds, looks like my area :)
I remember from high school that you could get great low end from simple 6X9's on the deck, maybe a free-air sub to keep it old skool?

Yeah I don't know what I want to do first. Hook up the 403 under the hood or get the Leonard Skynard cranking.

I live in Colorado Springs CO. The pictures are from OK.
This one cost $10,000. It was actually the cheapest 10th anniversary I could find. There were nicer ones but they were from $18,000-$40,000. Plus I wanted something I could actually spend time working on and upgrading.

Haha I have one of those. Too bad it is for sale now. It is a 1980 Turbo 301 with 65K on it but needs resto love. It was my wife's and she stopped driving it when she wen tto Korea. It has sat in the garage since 2000.

'79 was the last year for the big engines. And most were still made with the small block 403. I guess I need to find a 400 or 455 to build as a donar engine.
NaamanF.....
HHEEEYYYYY, is that the BOP 400 big block you are looking for? I may know of one! Low miles (less than 5K probably, maybe 7500 miles), complete rebuild and holley FI. I'll check on it if you want. It was taken from a '68 442, re-done professionally then retired after he decided he wanted something different. It's one sweet ass motor, but not stock, dunno if you want a stock resto.
jisturm, What color? I was sooo close to buying one back in the early 90's like yours, it was the marronish color, don't know the code. How's the turbo in it?

Sweet. Yeah let me know. I am not really into the stock motor thing. 185HP just doesn't cut it for me :)
This one is a big motor, well done, very solid, modernized. I'll call him this weekend!
Keep in mind it's a BOP Big Block footprint and mounting scheme (BOP meaing Buick-Olds-Pontiac) I don't know when Pontiac went to standard "GM geometry" for motor, tranny, etc mounting. If you know the car and have done your research (which I bet you have) you should have no problem finding this info.

www.transamcountry.com is a very helpful forum. We are just a young family living in a but ramming expensive area and cannot afford to do what needs to be done
Chad, the color is Pontiac Blue. It is a lighter metallic Blue. Very nice color. As for the Turbo, well, it works. Here is the problem. The 301 with the turbo is a dead engine. You score a piston or have a head problem, it is almost impossible to replace anything. My plan was to buy a Pontiac 400 and do an engine swap. Like I said though the car needs work. It will need a minimum of 8K to get near restored.
I was going to get a loan for around 15K but we just can't do that now. Asking 5K for it but we are reasonable and not stupid in thinking we are gonna get that. I will have pics up by Monday on a few boards.
