I am just finishing up installing 2 JL 10W7's in my buddy's 03 Silverado Ext. Cab. The big issue with this install is the fact that the W7's don't even come close to fitting in the stock truck. To make this happen, I had to remove the seat bottom and build a new back seat. I wish I had taken pictures throughout the whole production of the enclosure, but oh well. As you can see from these shots, I haven't had the chance to mount the seat on top yet, but I have already determined how I'm going to do it. I will follow up with final photos later on.

That looks purdy damn good!!! the only potential problem I see is the fact that you used that plastic easy connector plate. That plastic isnt very thick and flexes a lot. This creates a weak point in the box. Other than that, i love it! cant wait to see the finished pics.

What plastic plate are you referring to? The whole box is constructed of 3/4" MDF and is glued, nailed, and caulked.
I think he's referring to the speaker terminals, I have seen them go buh-bye in sealed boxes with huge pressure. I either drill Binding posts into the wood for a quick fix OR build up a steel binding post plate for solid attachment to the enclosure from the inside.

Oh I see now. Are you referring to the entire cup terminal, or just the crimped ring terminals? The cup terminals that are in there right now are pieces of shite.

im talking about the entire black plastic piece. its a major weak point in sealed boxes.

hey bobditts
im curious about your install in your sig. how is it set up. looks like you are running focal 3way up front. focal 2 way for the rear. and 2 mtx subs.
but how does the other stuff fit in, the jl 6s and the one mtx sub?

OIC Thanks for the heads up. I know those cup terminals are of very poor quality, but I'll just wait to see them blow out.
Anyone want to recommend a budget 2-way setup for this Silverado? It's an extended cab w/Alpine 9855 up front and Boston Acoustics coaxials right now, but he plans on doing a 2-way setup up front to accompany these sick subs.

Damn! That is the largest box I have seen under the seat of a Silverado! You said you have to build a new back seat.... can you explain please? Was lifting the rear seat not an option?
Looks sweet, as for a budget setup is the CA18 LPG combo too much?

Well, originally he had 2 10W3's on an angle in separate boxes under the original stock seat. These were absolutely squeezed in and were bumping against the seat bottom when they hit. As he craved a better quality sub, we realized that the W6's and W7's were going to be impossible to fit without major modifications. Raising the entire rear seat seemed like a difficult route because the seatback would have to be raised with it, and the brackets that hold it in make it mighty difficult. So, we decided to pull off the bottom bench and create a box that would house the W7's (which we got from the local dealer for dirt cheap) and the seat could bolt onto after we were done. We still have yet to install the top panel and seat cushion, but I'll post updated photos when that's done.
As for the CA18/LPG combo, that actually sounds like a pretty good idea! Which LPG tweet would you recommend?
Thanks guys.

Nice box. To start you'll need some components that have some nice midbass to keep up with all that bass in that small space.

And now for the shameless plug....
That front stage would not be complete without a nice set of door pods to exectuate their true elegance!
Just do a search on the Install Gallery for Chevy Door Pods and you will see what I mean ;)
