Hello. This seems like a pretty informative site. I have been into car audio since I was 15. I'm now 25. I like a good sound stage, smooth highs, good midbass, and strong tight low bass.

I was wondering about some of the brands that you guys seem to prefer on this site. I live pretty close to Parts Express (www.parts-express.com), which sells Dayton Audio, Peerless, Audax, Vifa, and quite a few other brands. I have access to lots of good deals through their warehouse, but I have never really purchased any of these brands when I visit the store, because I wasn't really sure about the quality. I mostly just get wiring and building materials when I am there. I have mostly stuck to the bigger names in car audio, like Diamond Audio, JL, Alpine, etc.

How do some of these lesser known brands compare to the stuff that I'm used to using?

I have a 2005 Tacoma and am considering puting a Diamond Audio component set up front, the S600S. It will have substantial power coming from a Kicker SX900.4 amp, which I have already bought. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

HAZE! I know, let's make him listen to my old stock stereo while doing sit-ups. :o

j/k. :p Welcome to the site. Definitely the smaller brands are where it's at. I would add to that list: CDT for speakers; Seas, which everyone seems to love; LPG; and Elemental Designs, which I haven't read much about here but I hope to soon because they make some excellent and unique stuff.

Welcome to DIY man. Lot's of good info here. That's cool you live near PE.

Truth is alot of those brands mentioned are actually the buildhouse for alot of car audio speakers.

In our trucks we can definitely fit some big drivers. You should check out the new Peerless Exclusive Mids.
