I just got into a car accident on Saturday. My car is most likely totaled and now all my audio equipment is in my house. I am debating if I should call it quits on audio and sell it all, or if I should just keep it.

Its a no brainer to keep the equipment, but if I sell it all, I can probably get a better car (about 1.5k more)

Any inputs? :(

btw Vinh, if you're reading this, I burned the CD already. lol.

depends if you will take a big losss on it. If the loss is minimal than go for it, but if it's substantial i don't think it's worth it to sell it. You will probably be back in car audio soon anyway.

ive been through that myself, sorry to hear about that, ive found its diff. to get anywhere close to what i paid for used items, afterwords looking at what i recieved for my audio items i was dissapionted,if you keep the items you will have some thing to look forward to -audio soon without much out of pocket- you cant replace that!

Well..I dont be taking any loss on my audio. If anything, I will gain by selling :D

The car that I got into an accident with was my 1992 Acura Legend. Either I use my money to buy the same kind of car again and keep the audio, or save the money, sell the audio, and take out a bit of loan to get a Lexus GS400 :D

what do u have to sell? ;)

:)

seriously though...sorry about your bad luck. if it were me...i would keep it and just install it in the next car. unless u were wanting to upgrade anything. maybe that would save u some cash on the next install??

Vinh, a GS400 is an upgrade over my legend, in gas mileage. My acura averaged about 13mpg in the city and about 17mpg on highway. It too eats up 91 octane and the gas tank is about the same size. I've done all the tune up and drove it like a granny. But I guess when you have an engine platform that was created 20 years ago, gas mileage isn't going to be a priority.
Also, school is just down the block. I drive less than 10 miles a day. With the rate i'm going at, I will only need to refill once a month :D :D :D :o

I can't seem to distant away from luxury cars :(

After thinking about it for awhile, I might get my parents to pull out a loan. That way, I can keep my audio stuff for the new car.

My current car can be repaired, but it will cost a lot and I am not too keen on having a re-welded front support. lol.

If worst comes worst and I have to sell the audio: here is what's for sale:

Alpine CDA-7965
LCY 108
6.5" Seas Lotus Reference (if i sell this, i'll keep the performance)
6.5" Seas Lotus Performance (if i sell this, i'll keep the ref, but I DO want to
keep the reference :D)
JBL GTO 755.6ii (6channel amp)
Alpine PXA-H701 (along with the C701 controller)

I'm keeping the idmax. its not worth to sell it with a misaligned coil. lol

The only thing that doesn't look too good is the seas performance mids. It works fine, but it has hot glue on its terminal because it apparently fell out during shipping. lol.

The way I see it, consider what you would pay for new car audio equipment if you sold your old stuff. In all likelihood, you will spend more than you would make by selling - especially because you can't exactly sell the sound deadening material out of your Legend but you will certainly have to buy more. I say keep your old stuff and make your car audio future simpler.
Oh and that sucks about the crash, man. Legends are nice cars.
