It's definately a shame. The deals through ECA are part of what makes/made it great.

I know this will be unpopular, and in the big scheme of things, I don't really care and don't know Scott Buwalda...but why is it considered spamming when an established member posts a link to a great deal (that they have no affiliation with) and it is not when Scott comes on himself and starts a post "Come to my SQ instructional meet...it costs x amount of dollars"? Again, I have nothing against Scott and no desire to ban/edit his posts, but a little uniformity in judgement never hurt anyone.

Also, in the edited post, the mod wrote:
"DO NOT POST LINKS W/O SOMEONE ASKING FOR THEM! THIS IS ALMOST SPAM"

So is it OK to start a thread entitled "Does anyone know of any good deals on amps/subs/speakers/other nice equiptment"? I was considering following the mods post with just that question, but I don't want to get banned or even "spoken to".

Buwalda's thread was more like spamming, IMO. He even offers free speakers, etc.
Wasn't it great back then when members like us found great deal and post it? Remember the Vifa PL cheapboy/npdang posted?

spam isn't very well defined on eca right now. I personally don't think it is spam if it's from a respected competitor/member? I personally see Juan coming on and telling everyone about denfords being that same thing as the buwalda summit.

Heck, that was the "old" Elite. Besides, I don't make a cent if we sell 1 or 500 of those denfords. I had to do some convincing to get those in (those were my babies, I pulled the trigger on getting them and making sure we got more).
