I'd Like to know more too. Xmax doesn't look too bad. There've been recent debates on low and high QTS in infinite baffle. Outside of a controlled box I'm not sure how much it really matters anymore.
Surely they have different character, but both could be used application dependant. I am a sucker for a deal, I may order these tonight or tomorrow if the mood strikes. I'd like to hear others chime in before tomorrow. Folks on the PE board say they would lack midbass.
The efficiency is not stellar but workable, Shallow mounting depth gives me grins. Useable range is quoted as a 65hz low which is not the motts, but definitely workable. Have fun.

Arent Audax made by focal?
I could swear I recall reading that someplace fairly recently.
I may grab a pair just to play with, for $22, why not.

I see that these are 8ohm, can these be run at 4ohm?

It's the speaker that affects resistance to the amp, not the other way around.

So they cannot be run at 4ohms? I would like to pick a set of these up, but the rest of my front stage will be all be 4ohms.

Nope, they are 8 ohm speakers.

You can not change the resistance of a speaker. The only way to run them at 4 ohms would be to use a pair of them per side, but that creates more problems usually. You're better off finding a 4 ohm driver to start with.

It helped me immensely. It usually doesn't matter when active and 8ohms is often better if you've got moderate power.
