just thought i'd see what CDs my fellow forum dwellers find it esseential to take on road trips. you know, when it's just going to be you and the highway for a few hours there's just those albums that either fit the situation or just make driving better/ more fun. also do you have different CDs depending on if you'll be driving at night or during the day?

here's mine: all the tool albums, acid bath- when the kite string pops, clutch- blast tyrant, kyuss- welcome to sky valley.

for night trips: dream theater- train of thought, ozric tentacles- spirals in hyperspace, all the zero hour albums, queen- innuendo, cynic- focus.

there's tons of other stuff i'll jam while driving but those are what i love to listen to while on roadies. cheers

I usually like to jam to some Floyd, other than that i'll usually just play some mixed ambient CD's, something very chill and intrumental, every now and then i'll put in some Punk rock (Mest) or some burned cd's that have some Opeth, Tool, and Korn and such.

Depends on my mood though, i will listen to drastically different material when i'm in differnet moods.....From going from Focal demo disks, just listening to perfect quality songs when i want to judge the level of my car, to rap/hiphop or heavy death metal when i'm in a rambunctious mood, and chill when i just want to relax and let the road come at me as it does.....

Night trips can't beat some DSOTM or Division Bell, wish The Wall was a single disk, i'd add that to the night mix as well.

On my 15 hour trip from Houston, TX to Austin, TX I jammed Cold Play on the open road; some Jamrock, Focal CD6, Jay-Z Blueprint 1 (good sound quality), and some Kanye West!!!

For you reggae fans (Sorry, I know I mentioned this before!)
Matisyahu - "Live at Stubbs" www.hasidicreggae.com
This CD is a must have! It is great for road trips!!

I like Shinedown's CD with "45" and "Simple Man" (acoustic)

If you have a disc changer purchase one of Led Zeppelin's greatest hits compilations

For soft times, Aaliyah's greatest hits or some Alicia Keys.

Hip hop: a mustto check out is Quannum!

Lastly, Black Eyes Peas make some dope albums
