Erin check out Papasin's Si over at 8th and he might have updated his thread here also. You might recognize his a-pillar pods. He's rockin' some wide-banders in there now and they look pretty good. That's some well traveled fiberglass.
I still look at those a-pillars wishing someone made a solid higher end point-source such as a 3 or 4" coax. That'd be a fun 1st glass project to have an on-axis setup there.

Check out Erin's stuff on 8th back in 06-07 timeframe for a giggle to see how far he's come with this car and skills. We're ALL newbs once. Your first build by the way is pretty darn spankin'!

The Morel Integra Ovation 4 and the GermanMAESTRO SV4009 both come to mind.
I am in the process of lighting off this years display in my Culdesac. 252 Channels of control and just a hair north of 75,000 lights...my house plus three of my neighbors via wireless DMX. LightShowPro v2 software with Lynx Express x 15 and 3 Aether II RGB LED Floods. Brain is officially fried at this point...
The best part is GermanMAESTRO stocks every part for every old Quart set ever made. I just had them send me the mounting rings for my QSD-210s and even a grill mounting ring for the same midrange. And all 2 parts, with shipping... less than $15 and that's after the Euro to Dollar conversion.
Regarding your setup, what about using a a sphere enclosure for your tweeter in order to minimize diffraction and dest int and const int? Concept from the Duevel Planet or Mirage Omnisat:
Doing as the above should smooth out the dip you get in the 2kHz-3kHz... Worth trying and measuring.

I'll repeat it for the miliionth time : All amps do NOT sound the same ... It's astonishing to me that nobody understands this
I got my 150mm spheres from a 'local' farm and irrigation supplies place.
They're float balls that go onto the end of a trough or water tank stop valve.
They're UV rated and the plastic wont melt in the sun at all.
Walls are about 3mm thick.
Cost = AU$6.99
Has anyone actually listened to the Duevel Planet or Mirage Omnisat? I have, both, and didn't like them. You get a sort of vague stereo image. I doubt they'd work in the car, which already is a nightmare of reflections.
The Mirages are great for surround channels in a home cinema setup though, there you need all the dispersion you can get.

Sweet... Wish I could listen to those since I've read quite some good reviews on the Planets... I'm not suggesting an omni-tweeter config though ; just the midrange...

I just bought a 2008 Civic...would it be crazy to say that this thread was a big reason as to why I got the Honda civic??.....lots of options...lol
Bikin....as far as your kick midbass is concerned, do you feel that with your current 7" mid, would there be any room to move the bottom of the midbass baffle further away from your feet....or is your config giving you the maximum amount of legroom as it stands....that config for the midbass is rediculous and not having to worry about rattles/buzzing in the doors is making that setup look very tempting....

reason i ask is because my car is stick...
depends on the driver size requirements. my midbasses are deep so they require the kicks to be the way they are. for an auto, it's no problem. for a manual, it's probably an issue.
what about just building an enclosure under the dash?
A few weeks back I posted some test data using roxul on the pillars. The idea was to see what the effect on frequency response would be but moreso to see the impulse response and how the reflections off the pillars themselves would be attenuated. I had pretty good results so decided to actually give it a go in the car. Yesterday I sprayed glue on the pillars and on a few strips of 2" thick roxul and applied it to the pillars. In some areas I pulled apart the roxul so it wouldn't stand so thick and in other areas, namely around the tweeter, I left it full thickness. I wasn't sure what to expect, really, but I did know that it was going to be ugly. I was hoping for a more spacious stage overall. Early reflections are killers of staging, regardless of the methods you often see employed to combine early reflections with the FR it can't be done. I've spent some time reading Geddes' HT book and specifically Chapter 4 discussing psychoacoustics. I figured at the least I would have my own tests to draw conclusions from.
So, I popped the pillars in place and played some tunes. Right off the bat I noticed an increase in depth and width. Not subtle; pretty substantial. The stage width increased by about 2 inches on either side. The depth didn't necessarily "get deeper"; it did, however, become more dynamic with various recordings. There are no cues to the drivers in the pillars. If you didn't know they were there, you wouldn't know they were there. I know it's hard to quantify psychoacoustics so I did some testing, too, to see what was going on in the time domain and how that shook out to FR. Overall what I found was no noticeable decrease in response; rather reduced peaks due to constructive interference of the pillars themselves. There used to be a large bump with a wide Q around the 5khz mark. It's not there anymore. I intended to save the data but never got a chance before I let my netbook battery die ().
Like I said, it's ugly as sin but it's entirely functional. I'll probably just wrap it with grill cloth and carry on. I've never been one to brag on my fabrication skills and I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it for me. Plus, I'm never ever really finished so there's no point in me spending time to make it the best looking thing in the world.
