Default DIY Install in My 2001 Celica

As of now...

Noise Control

Did a thorough job of sound deadening my car, which was long, but well worth it.

Electrical System

Replaced the stock 80A alt with a 170A HO alt from Ace Alternators. Stock battery out, Kinetik HC1800 in. Added a Kinetik HC600 as a secondary battery in the rear hatch. Upgraded stock power/ground wires to 1/0 Kicker HyperFlex, and 4 gauge Kolussus Cable.

Front Stage

Recently jumped on the PG RSd bandwagon lol and have to say I'm quite pleased with them. Tested different placement options before finally deciding to use the factory door locations for the mids, and having the tweets up in the dash. For the mids I simply made some custom MDF brackets. To install the tweeters I had to remove the dash, then used a drill and hole saw to get them flush mounted. Crossovers installed and mounted inside the passenger glove compartment.

Front Stage Continued

Head Unit

Chose a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X590.

Rear Fill

I know a lot of people discourage using rear speakers, but it works for me. Using a pair of Goldwood GW-S650/4 6.5" mids from Parts Express and have them playing band pass 220-2500Hz and faded.

Amps

Using 2 Eclipse PA4212 amps. One for the front comps (130wRMSx2 4 Ohms) and the other for my subs (400wRMS Bridged @ 4Ohms). Mounted them to the back of my rear seats.

Subs

Prefab Rockford Fosgate PL1-212

I know, I can do better, but for $159 shipped at the time, these aren't bad at all.

System Diagram

Oh yeah, the car haha.

So that's my system in a nutshell..

When budget and time permit, I'll do some upgrading here and there. But would appreciate comments and critque from you guys!

Wil

Nice another celica guy made it to the forum. I think you are on NC.org as well correct?

How is that 170A from Ace treating you so far? I am also wondering if you actually replaced the stock positve on the alt or just went over top of the stock. Looks like you have done a good job so far.

Now we just need to convert you over to active and lose that rear fill.
You already have a good budget set of comps to work with. They have been talked about a lot on here if you haven't seen already.

Cool.... neat install. You laid a real good fundation with the soundeadning, alternator & batteries. The rest you can do in stages.
You said you can do better with the boot... so get cracking! ahah

Maybe you can elaborate on how the second battery is hooked up?
I'm considering extra capacity on those long, drive-in nights (running a car PC + audio gear)
