Was:
OEM stock HU w/tapedeck, OEM non-JBL 6-speaker, 6x9 front doors, 2" tweeter front doors, 6.5" rear doors... stock.
Now:
T1809 Pioneer HU from '08 Scion XB
MBQuart FSA216 6.5" Components
MBQuart FKA116 6.5" Coaxials
Eclipse XA1200 600watt RMS amp
Soundsplinter RLi8 sub .5^ft net sealed
Knukonceptz 4ga CCAamp Kit
I replaced the stock door speakers first still using the stock HU and it sounded terrible. Swapped in the T1809 next and it's a fabulous unit, lots of ways to manipulate the sound and plenty of power. The MB's I'm running are their low-end line, but for $105 shipped from Amazon for the bunch, it kept totally in theme with my budget build. Just finished up the sub and amp install today... do a bit of tuning tomorrow.
The only major complaint was with the Knu fuse holder. It felt like cheap crap and gave me no confidence. I went to PepBoys and got a Lightning Audio 4-ga that weighed twice as much and was of much thicker grade plastic. I will say that the Knu powerwire was thick as hell and it took some effort to get it to fit in the 4ga connections of the amp... could easily be advertised 3.5ga.
Undecided where to put the remote... nothing stands out as optimal. Some help from my Toyota forum is in order there.
Everything you see including the MDF and carpet was a total of $605. The sub and amp I bought from this forum used, and the HU used via Craigslist.
Pics are up, will report tomorrow how everything sounds when I can really turn it up.
