The MS-8 didn’t play nicely with my OEM HU, so it’s time for it to go. Functionally it’s perfect, there are a few cosmetic nicks and scratches on the unit from the install that I tried to capture in the pics below. It comes with everything a new unit comes with, including the packaging. I broke the original display cable and hacked up the input harness wires, but bought new replacements for both from JBL. I’ll include the old input harness (that’s why you see two in the pics), as it’s still perfectly functional. Also included with the setup CD is a burned CD containing the calibration track, since JBL forgot to include it on the setup CD.
I bought this new, and it’s still covered under factory warranty until September. I’ll guarantee it’s 100% functional and in the condition described here. I won’t guarantee that its performance will blow you away or even work with your OEM HU.
Note: In trying to make this work in my system, Andy Wehmeyer at JBL sent me a firmware update for the DSP, that I installed. So, this doesn't have the current production rev level for the DSP portion only. I can't tell you what the difference is between the firmware levels. I was impled to me that the tuning algorithim is slightly tweaked, but I could never get the MS-8 to gel with my OEM HU well enough to be able to note any sonic differences.
