USE IT. I change my CDA-9856 for the 7949 (way older) and its WAY better. Love the graphics and the black out.

i was considering an alpine cda-7939, but this unit looks smoother in comparison. plus the copper chassis is unique.

I think you should be able to control at least the volume/balance/fader of any IA-Net processor.

The PRA-H400 works with processor - FULL Control, set x-over points, time alignment, etc.....I had this pair back in the late 90's and it was simply awesome. To access control, you need to have the remote that comes with the HU. There are no buttons on the face of the HU to operate or control the processor.

The remote model is RUE-4162 in order to control the H400 processor.

What's the difference between the JG and the J model? Or is there a difference? I'll assume that this model only has the Japanese am/fm freq. range correct?

My 7949 plays CDR. "JVC Taiyo Yuden Water Shield White Inkjet Hub Printable 52X CD-R" to be specific.

Was there even a J version?

As for the CD-Rs I have tried one and it worked but I know some don't. No idea what type it was.

Send to Brazil?

I have gotten my 7949 to play CDR's but its very very picky.

Edit- add: I just burned a CDR but you have to use JVC Taiyo Yuden CDR's and burn as slow as possible. I did mine at 16x and it plays but it takes about 4-6 seconds before it actually plays the track.

Would an old PXA-H700 work well as a processor matched to this HU using the optical out?
