My system has 2 AudioControl active crossovers, and some old a/d/s PH-15 and PQ20 amps. My HU has 4V preouts.
I have always left the AudioControl gains flat, but this requires the amps to be turned up to 3/4 gain. Would I get a better S/N ratio if I pre-amped the signal with the gain on the crossovers, setting that to max, so that I could then likely turn down the gain on the amps? Seems to me, if anything, at least the amp wouldn't have to work as hard or draw as much current with a lower gain setting? |
