Default BMW E46 - replacing the stock amplifier

I am working on a friend's BMW E46 and we were originally planning on using a lin output converter to get signal into the amp, when we found out that all the speakers, including the 3-way door components, are seperately crossed-over inside the amp, and from what we can tell, the amp received a digital signal from the deck tht cannot be tapped into. Does anybody have any experience with BMW's that can help us get through this?

Are you replacing the amp or just adding an additional one? In addition to the crossovers, each channel of the factory amp has it's own eq maximized for the factory drivers... Use of any number of the new "LOC on steroids" such as jl Clean sweep, fosgate 360 etc would be preferred when keeping the factory head unit/amp and adding an amp.
