Default Help with selection of midrange in a 2-way with sub

Well after doing some measuring and setting and thinking in the car. I have come to the conclusion that a 2-way with sub will be my best bet. The car is a Ford Focus hatchback. As some of you know, my sub set-up changes on a pretty regular basis. So I'm looking for a "mid-woofer" to fill the gap and has a fairly wide freq response. I have had mids in the kick panel before I liked the imaging. Based of my old set-ups I can go a little passed 3" deep.

I plan on using one of the many DSP to do the crossover/TA/Eq duties. Amp will be a Zed Leviathan.

I have looked at several drivers specs and listened to a few. A couple things I would like to fill. Cost under $150 each and play from 70hz to 2000hz with moderate eq'ing.
Seas CA18,L18, and P18 models
Dynaudio MW170
SB Acoustics SB23NRXS45-8
Fountek FW168
Peerless Exclusive 7"

The tweeters are mounted in the A pillars on axis and are SB Acoustics Ring Domes. I have been running them of head unit power in temp housings. Very nice neutral sounding tweeter. They do tend to roll off a bit at the top end, but I prefer that. I'm on the road a lot and a over bright tweeter starts to get annoying real quick.

Searching for a balance between SQ and 150db with the windows down at WOT!!

I use 7" Peerless Exclusives matched with Rainbow Cal26 Silk tweeters and I would recommend them to anyone. They go plenty low and match with my Diamond Audio D6 12" sub very well.

Have you looked through this yet? Zaph|Audio

I'll second the 7" Peerless Exclusives. It has good detail and nice, natural sounding midbass. Noted something interesting tonight coming back from a couple hour drive w/ the family. I usually play it pretty loud and this system has good presence/liveliness when loud which makes sense as I tuned it at a similar volume level. However, tonight w/ the baby in the back the volume was way more subdued than normal yet the slew of vocalists on the wife's homemade CD still retained a similar liveliness and articulation as when louder. I'm sure there is more to this than just the midbasses...its just nice to sit back and see my wife DJ the songs and my 14 year old say, "could you play that song again." And I thought they didn't get it.
Presently have it crossed at 4khz @ 24db/oct. I thought this would be a bit high, but so far the system sounds best this way.

In the stock locations in the doors of my Chevy Trailblazer. They are on a 1.5" mdf baffle and the doors are well deadened.

thanks! I have vents cut in my kicks that go into the fender/door jam area. So they will be more or less IB. How is their power handling?

They handle all an old school Memphis 16-MCA300 can give them. (about 80 watts @ 8 ohms)

Of course, power handling will suffer when going IB with them, so YMMV.
