Default Back after several years

I was a fairly active member of this forum. About 7 years ago I competed in usaci consumer with old school rockford amps and some boston pro series components. However I kind of dropped off the face of the earth, I havn't done a full install for about 5 years now. It was one of those life got in the way sort of things.

I just recently bought a newer car worthy of working on and finally am in a position in life that I have something that represents a disposable income.

I've been checking out the forums for a few days now and it's nice to see that the "you are an idiot for not spending $5000 on your speakers" comments have stopped.

Although we have lost some great members to conflicts and disagreements it is still a great environment for learning car audio. We are certainly more accepting of a broader range of CA enthusiasts now and the mods play a large part in why this is.

GL with your car and make a build log when you are ready.

Also, old school is a big part of DIYMA.
Not sure if it's bigger now than before since I wasn't on here back then.

Oh, I plan to do a build log. I always did just in case I decided to do a local show and needed a photo log for the event. It's also nice to have if you include the system with the car when you sell it.

I can understand a difference of opinion but never deep insults over a hobby. I saw an interview with Chip Foose about his competition for a car show award and he said he doesn't see other builders as competition he sees them as a potential new best friend.

We all have different tastes and levels of build skills, I like the help more than the complaints.

I honestly can't remember what the user name or the old email and password that was associated with it was it was either SQSentra or SQCherokee.

Boston pros were sold years ago.

I was thinking about this last night, last time I spent alot of time on here the JBL MS-8 prototype was being tested, that's the last big thing I remember.

yep, that was my old profile.

Check the link to my old sentra:

My competition amp rack.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/423794...-sentra/page-4

I hated that car. It was a POS, but I was a kid and had no choice in the matter when it came to my parents helping me out.

If you back that up to page 3 you can see my installation of the B13 SE-R seats. This at the time was a common swap. However the seat back was the only direct swap part. Nobody else did the bottom cushion because the bolt holes were on the sides on the SE-R pan and the bottom on the B14 pan.

So I removed the foam and upholstry and swapped pans. It was so simple I can't believe nobody else ever figured it out. From the forums I followed I get the feeling I was the first person in the world to actually get the full seat swap done.

I have my competiton install book instorage somewhere. When I find It I'll get the photos uploaded. I loved the original trunk layout in the car, It looked nice but my wood working skills have come along ways since then.

I actually built that car 10 years ago. Wow.

My talon.
My most ambitious project and the last full install I worked on.

I was still in my early 20's so I didn't have my prioities straight. I was spending all this money on audio gear all the while the car needed a new engine. LOLZ!

When the engine blew the car was parked for about 2 years. I sold the Dynaudios, the vifas, the type RF amps, the squareobarics, and the 8volt eclipse dead head.

I'm pretty pissed that I sold all this stuff, because once I married my now ex wife she took the stance of if the hobbys not something I'm interested in you can't spend any money on it, so long story short that's why I didn't do any installs for the last 5 years.
