Very interested in these for the new car. I know they were announced at last year's CES, but it looks like they're starting to show up:

Uhh, doubt it dude...did you happen to see MSRP on the set is $650? Which means cost is around $300...Sonic's prices are usually competitive with most of the eBay prices. And I trust them a helluva lot more than most of the clowns on eBay.

Sonic did me right. I wanted these Alpines, but they weren't available, and now I'm thinking of replacing sr6500's with them. Heard them both at an in store demo and thought the spx's sounded better.

What did you like better? In a board both sets are gonna be light on bass and heavy up top. If you like the Alpines better because of the bass it might be too bottom heavy in your car.

I guess I'm a little disapointed with my polks. Not a bad speaker by any means, and maybe I'm just getting the bug reading all these posts. Dang, this is going to be an expensive hobby. |

I dig the crooked amp install :|
Too bad about the Boss tho... I don't really subscribe to the theory that amps change the sound, but that only applies when you aren't discussing junk amps. Should suggest an audiomatic mac style amp. |

From the sounds of it it IS a lot of reflection. You might also be turning up the alpine tweeter from your description of them in the board. But then again, that's better than not being able to cut it enough.

Well, they already shipped...be here the 24th, but I won't be. So I'll have UPS deliver 'em when I get back. Probably be a couple weeks before the install happens.

Either me, or there is an installer who used to work at Tweeter in Frisco who's work I REALLY, REALLY like. He's not fancy, but man he does solid work. However, he had back surgery awhile ago and is finally cleared to start doing install work again. If he's available, I'd love to have him do it. Would be contracting the work through jdohman on ECA (former head car audio manager at that tweeter) and the company he formed after Tweeter closed.

I've been looking for someone to do my install as I don't have the time to even think of installing stereo equipment with work and school. If you have some time, drop me his information. I'd like to give him a call and possibly get a quote. |
