Default CDT 3 way components in corvette Stage Question

i got the cdt 3 way components i would like to place the sub and the mid in the door and the tweet in the a pillar like in these pictures because my foot always covers the door panel and i end up muffling the sound

here is my setup

i want to put the tweeters like this

how much would it effect my staging???

i would rather have the tweets here

Are you running active? If so you ought to be able to stage sufficently. You are going to LOVE those CDT's.

are you sure it will sound bad

if it will then can i do it like you but flush against the pillar not out like yours because i would just cut a hole and mount it in there but same position as yours

I would suggest you look for his build thread and see WHY he has them angled that way before you dismiss it for the sake of aesthetics.

The tweeters up on the glass like that. All I can think is reflections and major problems to try and over come with tuning. Since you are passive that makes it twice as hard and even active it would be a B*tch to try to pull off.

I think you would be better off putting the tweeters in the door vs. trying them up agianst the glass like that.IMO

Yes, I'm sure it will sound bad.

You can't. Too curved, not deep enough.

You will need time alignment due to the difference in l/r pathways. If the three drivers are close to each other, you might be able to get away with time aligning them equally; active x-overs with each driver time aligned separately would be best. jps

Time alignment is almost useless for the frequencies the tweeter will be playing.

So what you are saying is running them firing directly into the glass passive they sounded good. No issues with reflections ect.

I thought that is why he switched to the a-pillars. I know he had them in the door at one time.

I started in the door handles, and that was massively terrible, then went to a bad a-pillar install. then I did try firing at the windshield for the hell of it, (though I dont remember posting about it) and aside from a bunch of added harshness and some weird reflections, it wasn't an epic fail. - finally settled on a proper pillar install.

Lexiz: Here's my advice to you:

1) Try the tweeters double sided taped to several positions for a few days each. Try a lot of music. Maybe you'll like the extra sibilance from firing at glass. As you can see in my tweeter install, I *very* carefully avoided the glass as much as possible.

2) After finding the best position (probably something similar to mine, with those silk domes you have) then rank your positions based on aesthetics and sound quality.

3) Decide what is more important: Aesthetics or sound quality. If you pick the first one, question yourself as to why you need expensive speakers

Where do you see them firing into the glass? They're pointed at the passengers.

I have been refeering to them in the pics from the OP. Not talking about Midnightce's ride. I think you got confused about what I was talking about. On the dash firing at the glass that close you are going to have some major issues.IMO like reflections ect.

Here is a some good info IMO about tweeter location.

Oh, yeah I was talking about Midnight's install. Agreed, that corner dash location firing up is gonna suck.
