Someone help!
I am trying to re-tune my system after changing amps. I have the USACi CD (which is a CD USACi burned), a pink noise track I downloaded from the internet (WMA File which I burned) and the Focal Tools CD (Actual CD Focal Produced). When I RTA, the USACi and Downloaded File RTA about the same but when I put in the Focal Disc, it is way off. I would assume the Focal disc is wrong, but when doing the RTA, I can get the RTA plot to stay very even for long periods of time, while the USACi and downloaded track is very jumpy in the plotting. I am attempting to RTA to 1db/octive variance. Thanks for any and all help! |

having it 'jump' is just a matter of averaging.
The differences you are getting, though, may be due to the actual differences of the 'pink noise' tracks themselves. Are they all the same: stereo or mono (uncorrelated or correlated)? |

If it ain't broke, I fix it.

The only difference between them is the Focal disc says Pink Noise - Ref -14db Fs. Seems like the same to me, just 14db lower in volume.

Have you listened to them, though?
I've got all sorts of pink noise tracks. Some are stereo and some are mono. You will get different results from the two. |

No, I guess I am not sure. I believe the USACi disc says Stereo, but I am tuning 1 side at a time so would it even matter?

post some plots! easier to see what the problems are and perhaps someone could see the reason.
did you adjust the volume so that the measured level are the same for all discs? If the volume are different, than the speakers behavior could vary over volume. |

Again, keep in mind you're measuring the entire space and it's effect on response. IME, levels will matter. Throw a set of headphones on and listen. Mono vs. Stereo. Each has it's benefit. |
