"It is only now you see the errors of you're ways, young jedi"
Yeah, rant all weekend until someone at Sonic was alailble to answer his email and sort out the issue.
Companies employ human beings, all of which make mistakes sooner or latter, some more often then others. It was most likely a warehouse worker handed a lable to put on box fom "BIN A" which has no idea what is suposed to be in "Bin A" and sent out the wrong box.
I could have started the same thread a couple weeks ago (different company) when I needed to replace the DSP for my car which shorted out when I tried to reset it for the first time. So I send the item back and get a replacement which turned out to be DOA, so I get an RMA# and have to pay to ship it back (one week) wait for their tech to test the unit (3 days) and then ship out a replacement (another week) and when I got the "Replacement"... guess what I got.... THE SAME SERIAL NUMBER DOA UNIT that I had paid to return to them! I was not happy and thought they were a crap company trying to screw me over!!! So I called and asked why they sent the bad unit back and they explained to me that this should have never happened and sent me a return lable to send the DOA unit back and shipped out another brand new DSP the same day I sent the bad one back. So I still had to wait another week to get it but it showed up today, is brand new and works great.
I'm not happy with the situation, but it was resolved professionally and I can't really hold that company responsible for this because it could happen to anyone at any time, in any buisness situation.
Now the OP needs to end this thread by posting how SONIC handled the situation.
You're assuming that there is a local shop that has the gear he wants and provides decent customer service. In many places, this simply isn't the case.
The OP listed that he lives in Austin, the 4th largest city in Texas, plenty of places to purchase audio equipment so I'm not assuming anything.

I live in the metro nashville area, which has a population of about 1.65 million. Metro Austin has a population of around 1.7 million...pretty close. There is not a car stereo shop worth a shit anywhere in Nashville as far as I know, so yes, you are assuming. Sure, there are plenty of places to buy gear, but that doesn't make them good shops, or insure that you'll get any service after the sale etc. and that's the point.
But that wasn't the point I made in my post, I guess you assumed it was.
I originally said that you were assuming that there was a good place to buy gear there. You replied saying that the guy lives in a big city, therefore you were not assuming anything. I pointed out that being in a big city and having a good place to buy gear are not automatically co-factors.
I missed your point in there? Seemed pretty straight forward...
For "seeming" so strait forward, you sure seem to continue to miss it, but that's ok.
Ok so quit being obtuse and tell me what your point was. I said that he might not have a good place to buy gear, hence buying on the Internet. You said that he lives in the 4th largest city in TX. Apparently there is a relationship between those two things. Please explain that relationship to me so that I can understand your point.

HiFi Buys on Nolensville Road does a great job IMHO.
My POINT is…if you are going to be so anal with how a product is shipped to you and the condition it might be in, don’t buy online, go to a store front so you can inspect the item first. Customer service doesn’t play any part in that task.
Ordered the PPI p900.4 a few days ago and just found out they had a coupon for 10% PPI stuff. I called them, the guy verified the coupon was still working and able to be used and within 1-2 minutes I was told I would be credited $20 back onto my card.

Oh, I can see how that should have been obvious from your "he lives in Austin" post.

I'm from Nashville myself, and yea... starting 3 years ago, the 2 shops I gave money to did staggeringly piss poor work. I had to actually REBUILD my system myself thanks to the second shop. And, thus began my DIY hobby.
And, of course, my new audio store at that point was and still is...
Sonicelectronix!!
...to the tune of 12 orders so far, all perfect in every way.

No but it was obvious from my first post and that is where the POINT originated from. you are the one that brought up the posibility of not having a local place to buy from.
Anyway...I'm done, the OP can have his thread back now.
I love this post lol. As a product salesperson I find this especially hilarious. I wonder if somone ever thought hey this is a brand new product. What it sonic had to take pictures of this brand new product to post up on the page an then just repackaged it as it was still a new product, just unboxed. Hmmm sounds like it might be possible. I'm sorry but in this situation a damaged box ain't shit. 600 dollar order for my subs and amp. Not only did they take a best offer at 155 dollars off retail price on the subs saving me over 300 bucks, but as for my subamp they chopped the retail cost from 600 down to 320 and then took off another 20 off of the amplifier when I called them to get the offer price on my sub-woofers, I didn't even want any off of my amp i was okay at the old price. They also knocked another 8 bucks off of my speaker baffles. The box shipped in 5 days, very short and I tracked it with fed ex the whole way, when they got here my subwoofer amp box had a big dent in the corner and the styrofoam inside one of the subwoofer boxes was split in half. The huge box they were all three in was broken on one side and had packaging peanuts falling out.
But guess what, my product's were fantastic and run like a dream, that is what packaging is for. To absorb the bumps, breaks, and scuffs of shipping. If the packaging gets screwed up in the process but the product is okay, thats all I give a rats ass about. So I have gone back to sonic ever since, great prices, great product, great american based tech support. Good sales help, and they even comment and ask how your system sounds when you post it on their facebook page. Get angry later if the product in the box is in perfect shape stop trying to screw the seller out of money they need to keep the doors open.

as a "product salesperson" you should know the difference between new and open box items.
My sign is Sagittarius, I'm into Spanish cheese, my hairline is receding but I'm getting a weave. Who wants some Ronald tonight?

Same situation here in Austin. There's none here with the exception of 1 custom installer shop I know of, and who I should have sourced from originally (other than the price differential which was fairly significant), there are no sources of quality gear. I've called Zapco, MB Quart (not using the new stuff!) and others and I am directed either online or to Dallas/Houston (3 hour drives). Hence my coming here to learn about alternative sources.
Keep in mind when I say none I am referring to those with a positive rep. There's plenty of shops who can get "anything" but have nothing to show on the shelves and have 1 and 2 star ratings from customers on Yelp
Sourcing online and DIY or using the one shop I know of and paying more (but getting quality) are my only choices here really. There are a few other shops that have great reps as installers but authorized to sell the better quality merchandise for whatever reason.
