Default 2002 Accord antenna won't work after aftermarket stereo install

I just installed a brand new Sony head unit in a 2002 Accord and can't seem to get the antenna to work. The antenna seemed to be working with the stock radio but seems dead once the the Sony is put in. I would like to see if it works with the stock radio but can't get hold of the stock radio anymore. I also thought it could be the antenna turn on but the pin on the wiring harness leads to an empty pin. What could be the problem?

if the ant wire from the HU goes to an empty pin on the wiring harness then that is your problem. move the wire to power ant wire on the car and it should work.

then how does the ant know to go up? it has to have a signal from the HU.

is it posible that the ant uses the canbus? if that is so, then the stock HU would be connected tot he canbus as well and simple tells the ant to go up and down.

There isn't a moving antenna on the car, I believe it is fitted inside the rear window. As for the antenna using canbus, I am not sure. I've never had a problem with any other Honda using this harness, so to have this problem on such a common car is strange to me.

ok, I dont get it then. if it is not a power ant, then what are you trying to power? a "power ant" in a car just means that it has a mast that goes up and down. other than that, an ant is just a section of wire (for all intents and purposes)

I may be mistaking power antenna for amplified antenna. I assumed the car had an amplified antenna because there was a solid blue wire from the car side.

I used to have a 01 accord... its embedded into the rear glass, the antenna is "amplified" the amplifier/junction box is in the driver side c pillar, it should be the normal location for the PA turn on in the harness... if not follow the actual antenna wire down a little bit, it might have a connector there that you can tap onto and give PA turn on.

I'll update once I check to see if there is a wire attached to the antenna plug. Thanks!

Alright guys, I looked at the car today and it turned out to be a bad head unit. I looked for the wires you guys told me about but didn't find them. Right before I put it all back together, I tried a new radio and it worked right away. Thanks for the help guys!
