Question Steering wheel control interface problems

I am attempting to fit an AWSC (Axxess) steering wheel control to a 2006 VW Touareg fitted with an Eclipse AVN726EA head unit. I decided that I would get a professional car radio installer to fit the unit. Unfortunately he could not get the unit to work. I then tried another installer who found the following: When you start the installation process and turn on the power and go through pressing the reset button and muti pressing the volume up button the light long flashes 7 times as required then a slight pause then it flashes another 7 flashes. This indicates that it has not found the radio. When you try to setup the Eclipse steering wheel controls it comes up with an system error.

The installer has not been able to resolve the issue. Is anyone able to suggest any other method for the AWSC unit to recognise the Eclipse radio. The information on the AWSC suggests it will work with all units. The installer contacted the makers Metro but they did not suggest anything.
Any suggestion about what I could try would be welcome.

Default Re: Steering wheel control interface problems

I know there is a way to manually program it if it doesn't auto detect correctly. I had a PAC in my 2006 GTI and it was useless.

The Axxcess in my BMW with a Pioneer has been flawless.

There is mention in the Axxess manual about reversing some wires for Eclipse head units if it doesn't detect correctly. Have you done that?
