Default Newbie---1st post---Critique my system---Recommendations?

Hey all,

1st post here----looks like a cool forum. I have an extended cab silverado and would like to get the best sound quality/output within reason. Not a competition vehicle, just a daily driver. I listen to rock, rap, country, pop, pretty much everything---lol.

Here is what I have right now:

Pioneer Premier head unit - DEHP8MP
Pioneer Premier DVD unit - AVX-P8DVD
Memphis Audio Parametric EQ - 16-EQP4
Alpine component ft speakers - SPX17 Pro
Memphis Audio rear speakers (fill) - 15-PR462V2
Pro Box Subs - 99X210L-1000
Orion 1200D amp (subs)
Memphis Audio amp (bridged for alpine ft speakers only) - 16MC4.50
XS power Battery (instead of cap)
Big power and ground cables
High quality cabling and routed properly (no signal wires next to big power wires, etc)

I wanted more "bump" (rattle your mirrors bass) but am satisfied overall. Sound quality is really good overall.

Basically, I want to upgrade the head unit to a double din setup that has high voltage pre-outs and is high end, but i don't want navigation. DVD is ok as I'm removing the existing DVD player. I use an I-phone now for my music so it must integrate well with the I-phone mp3 player and do phone (bluetooth---hands free). Also, would like a removable face.

I've had the Pioneer AVH8400BH recommended and others have said the Alpines have wayyy better sound quality. Then others say the Kenwoods are the way to go.

Confused in la la land..........................Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the 8400. So far I like it but its my first DD so I don't have much to compare it to. My stock speakers did get noticably louder after I installed it.

I have the Pioneer AVH 8400BH and I am putting it up for sale. It really is more then I am in need of and I feel that someone else could take advantage of its capabilities more then me. It's really great with my iPod/iPhone I've never had the bluetooth hooked up so that is still in it's box. DVD playback is crystal clear and the sound is spot on. I went and purchased a basic dd unit so I have something more my speed.

Alpine IVE-W530/. Pioneer Stage4 speakers/CDT QES1220 subwoofer/ Mosconi AS100.4/ Mosconi Zero3/ Zapco DSP Z8 processor.

Im wondering if its possible to stuff the box with polyfill, because ive noticed most of the prefab boxes are tuned pretty high.

You can, but that only equates to like 2 hz lower tuning or so IME. Nothing beats building a true low tuned box.

I would check out PHD Audiophile speakers. They are Italian made>no Chinese or Korean made. Great sounding components. Pioneer makes a good unit, as does Alpine & Kenwood. Depends on what options you are looking for. Pioneer has a great built in EQ that others don't. It is a matter of taste. Try quilt batting. You can buy at hobby store & don't forget to dampen everything you can afford to do. dynamat over priced and you can find others that are just as good with out the big price tag. fatmat is a good source. Also do big three upgrade, it sounds like you have done that. Alpine components are a good start but upgrade!!! It is a never ending process.
Good luck.
