Late November one of my ID CXS 65 mids stopped working. When I pulled the door panel off I noticed the mid was frozen up, first thought was that I fried the coil. However, when I pulled the mid from the door I noticed the magnet had shifted on the motor causing the coil to bind up. I further inspected the coil and could see that it was still a clean copper color. With the mid still being under warranty I sent it in. 3 months later I get word that ID has denied my warranty claim stating that BOTH mids had water damaged which caused them to freeze up! Speaking to the Wooferetc guy I was irate and told him that one of them was working flawlessly when I took it out and the other had a visibly shifted motor! I was given an offer to buy a new set for a discounted price, which is a slap in the face. ID should own up to this poor glue job and warranty that mid!

Its amazing what moisture and winter temps can do to speakers. I've been in your exact shoes. I just don't see where ID or Woofers is the one to blame here? Do you think they should warranty a water damaged speaker?

and, here's the issue probably as ID sees it:
the likelihood that a speaker has the coil jump completely out of gap and THEN the magnet shifts, is improbable.
anyone trying to get warranty on speakers by deliberately un-gluing the field plate from the magnet and setting the cone/coil atop it at an angle, is going to get a water damage excuse rather than say the owner attempted to defraud the company on a warranty claim.
certainly not saying that this is the case here, or that I have a vested interest, (I don't) but that is what that speaker appears to tell as a tale of a thousand words...
but if it is like I conjectured it could "allegedly be", it's not right to push ID into the ring and make them fight in a public forum, imho.

As long as it's within the period of warranty we'll have no problem taking care of you. Did you talk to us directly or send it to woofers? Just curious...

It makes me happy when I see stuff like this. Reminds me when JasonPaul worked for Cadence. I have nothing but great things to say about him and Cadence as a company. Same goes for Image Dynamics. I believe companies need to understand the usefulness of having a rep on forums. Great job

Wow plus 1 for ID and a big negative 1 for Woofers etc. Just from the response from ID it makes it hard to believe that the speakers were ever sent in to ID by w.e.

As usual I'm not privy to all the info here as I'm the tech director.... but I like to stick my nose in to try to make the foundation of the company (our precious customer base) as happy as possible. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed in certain aspects...lol, but coming from being in a retail background for 20 years and owning two of my own shops... I always bent over backwards for customers.... even if they were asses. Thanks again for the accolades and I'll keep you guys in the loop as always....

Interesting that I keep seeing bad comments about woofersetc on this forum. Look at ebay and they have 99.7% positive feedback on almost 20,000 reviews. They must be doing something right. Wait... maybe wooferetc and ebay are in collusion to scam everyone..lol. Any way I personally have not had any issues with them.

If you are dumb enough to buy without a REAL MANUFACTURER's WARRANTY, you deserve what you get.
I am ASSUMING woofersetc. is not an authorized dealer. If that's the case, then in this case, I commend ID for standing by their product, even if they have no legal responsibility.
Buyer's beware. With online purchasing there are lots of false cheaply made "third-shift" product being sold as authentic. I have no idea if ID and it's non-customers have been victims of this, but many other quality companies have.

Woofers is an authorized dealer for ID I believe.They are authorized for quite a few brands but they sell many many brands that they are not authorized to sell.I've ordered a lot of stuff from them and only had one problem.I had a Memphis amp that I sent back and they said they could have it repaired at no charge (I ran it for almost a year untill it developed noise) or replace it with a brand new one for $50.00 shipped.The only problem was that it took 3 weeks for them to get it checked out for repair.I took the brand new one-it didn't bother me to spend the money for new.I new they weren't authorized to sell Memphis when I bought it.I always assume no factory warranty when I buy unauthorized for very cheap.Just beware if you make that choice.I had a couple warranties from buying CDT from Woofers and they were handled very quickly and completely in my favor.But that's CDT-they have given me free mounting hardware when I inquired about prices of things not listed on their site and warrantied 2 things for me that were out of the warranty period because I waited too long to install them.On a side note I bought a 3SIXTY.3 at Christmas and I bought it from Crutchfield so I would have no worries if I had problems.

There is a difference between receiving a working item in a reasonable time frame and getting warranty work. How many of those feedback responses are from more then 30 days out from the auction end/purchase date? Most if not all. How many are from 300 days out? None since you would not be able to leave feedback at that time. Sonic has the same great feedback and I have not had problems with them either. But from what I read on here is that they sometimes fall short on responding when you do actually have an issue down the road.
