Default Install Help

I have a Rockford Fosgate R2 shallow mount 10" sub which is 400 watts-200 RMS. My mid and tweets are also fosgate set up. My amp is an Autotek 1050.4 which is RMS power 125x4@4 ohms-250x4@2 ohms and bridged it is 500x2, but only on 2 channels. My problem is that when the sub is wired in either series or parallel and I attempt to bridge the amp on channels 3/4 the amp will shut down and go into protection. I have done everything that I know to do, however, it has been at least 15 years since I have put a stereo in. I am fairly certain that it is something simple that I am overlooking. I can unhook the sub and the amp will run the mids and highs no problem. Any help would be appreciated, I am at my wits end. Sorry I also have 8 gauge wire running everything.

The amp runs fine without the sub hooked up?

Will the amp run fine if you swap the mids/tweeters to channels 3/4?

I would also consider running 4 gauge wire to that amp instead of 8 gauge.

A true 1000 RMS amp will need more than 8 gauge wiring.

My bad I see the amp is rated at Max power, not RMS.

Try swapping to 3/4 and see if it still runs

Thank you for your feedback. Yes the mids and highs still work on channels 3/4 just when the sub is hooked up is when i starts cutting off. at low volumes it sounds great and when i turn it up to a louder volume it goes into protection.

Do you have multimeter? If not a $15 one will probably do just fine.

Set to ohms and measure the speaker load.

It should be 4 ohms if you are bridging it as the amp is not designed for less in bridged mode.

Does it cut out still if you turn the gain down?
