Alternating Current (AC)

Added by ANT, 03-28-2012 09:35 PM
An electrical current that reverses direction, alternating between positive and negative at a constant frequency. The rate of change is measured in cycles per second, or Hertz (Hz). The majority of consumer electronics products, though they plug into the wall and receive alternating current, operate in a direct current environment, necessitating the inclusion of a transformer power supply to perform AC to DC conversion.
