I don't think aura had anything to do with replacing them. Im pretty sure partsexpress was exchanging them. And they've been sold out for a long time. Your only recourse is to probably get a refund
Poop. I would love to exchange them as I based my setup around their application. Any other good IB subs that would run well off of a JBL BPX 500.1?
You know, the current Alpine Type R is not that bad. It has more motor and suspension throw than this thing and it's meant for the abusive mobile environment. It's also cheaper, selling for $50 cheaper than this did at its lowest.

Would feel really awkward putting Type R's amongst Dyn, Audison, & Aura

Fewer mushy feelings and more actual feeling. Heck, the Type R is more advanced than the Dyn, and not by a little bit. I wouldn't lose a second thinking about it. If any of the brands you highlighted are better in any way it's going to be in the top octaves if used as midbass or low midrange driver. In a car nobody crosses a sub that high, so the type R will deliver ass whooping across the board under 100hz.
Who cares? All that matters is that it sounds good.
not when you just paid a lot for custom amp rack, lighting, etc. for a quality install

What Dyn you mean the Aura?
No, I really meant the Dyn, you mentioned it in your post. The Aura is an underhung neo motor so it does have some tricks the Type R does not. It's not clear at all what Dyn has that a Type R does not. In fact I would ask the opposite, Alpine seems to have done a fantastic job at getting a quality product out at an irresistible price. Can the Dyn keep up? I would argue no.

I was referring to the other pieces of my system. In this case, Dyn components
So after taking the magnet off, I don't see anything alarming. No "chipping" to speak off. Just a few "shavings" in the magnet that the VC might be rubbing against? Would that lil bit be enough to mess up the sound?
Baffle is already cut for 2 12"s. I have 2 GTI, but not enough sub power. Electric couldn't handle upgraded power though
For IB, the Dyn Esotar 1200 does a great job. Se7en has it in his setup, which I have heard, and it sounds amazing.
Also, if anyone has an Aura sub that is in good working condition (no rubbing etc), I am interested in getting one. I have 12" subs in the classifieds so could possibly do trade or trade + cash.

Do yourself a favor. Take something like a butterknife and scrape off any loose plating. Then go through withcompressed air and a business card wrapped in masking tape and clean out the gap

I was doing the butter knife aspect yesterday. Will do rest today
Just an FYI if anyone cares, I bought my pair of MR.12's while I was deployed. When I got home I opened one of the boxes to find the coil rubbing.
I called PE and explained the issue, even though they were out of the 45 day return window, they said "No problem, its a defect and we will refund everything"
They sent me a shipping label and I returned them. No money lost.
You say at 70mph you cant hear a difference? Does this mean at 35 you can?
