I almost picked one of these up as part of a gift for my brother to power a set of Dayton B652-Airs for his garage. Ended up going with a Dayton DTA-1 + Chromecast instead. I do wonder how the DTA-1 and the Amazon clone BT amps compare.

I'm curious if everyone believes this amp is as nice as I think. Please post any comments / thoughts you have on this little beauty.

IDK, I'm retuning mine. 2020 plays more effortless and cleaner with uprated power supply. Testing on Boston Acoustics HD10. Connections on both ends is a major drawback of this item.

That's interesting as I much prefer this over my 2020. But for my use size is everything.

I'm using the 13v Ps that I used with my 2020. I only have the power input on the front and have it tied it back so it's no issue for my use. I use BT for audio in.

If you don't need something insanely tiny, it's pretty simple/satisfying to build your own amp using these two things:

1) a Sure amplifier board
2) a Delta power supply

I posted a thread on how to do this in the 'advanced' forum. I'm using the Sure amps in my home and in my car.

The cool thing about the Sure amps is that they offer models with low distortion. (A lot of the Class D amps have quite a lot, but not all of them.)

You can get the parts at Parts Express or eBay.

In principle it would be quite simple to waste the surplus labour of the world by building temples and pyramids, by digging holes and filling them up again, or even by producing vast quantities of goods and then setting fire to them. (Orwell)

Interesting, yeah the link would be nice and how much does that run ya? More then $27 I assume but price isn't too much of an object if I do end up doing it. Less is better, but better quality is always more important!

Sure is also developing amp boards with integrated DSP. I'm not sure where this currently stands. Last I heard they were still under development.

I've done some looking at these. Not a lot of money for a fair bit of power. You could build a neat little amp solution with a fancy custom case for under 100$ (Canadian) and you'd have some serious power on hand

Help Me Build an Amplifier.

It's super super simple:

1) buy a sure amp
2) buy a power supply
3) plug in your source; I am using my phone

I really can't see a scenario where I'll go back to 'regular' amplifiers. By building your own amp you can basically decide what features you want to have. For instance, in my car I am using DSP crossovers, but in my house I am using passive crossovers. It looks clean too; you can basically build the amplifier and the processing right into the loudspeaker, so you can avoid having a shelf full of RCA cables and power cords in your home theater.

I am using the same amplifier board in my house and my car, but with different power supplies. In the car I have a 12V to 24V DC-DC converter for the power supply. In the house I have a 120V AC to 24V DC converter from Delta. I've read that you can run amps off of PC power supplies also. (IE, you can use a $5 used laptop power supply if you want to be a cheapskate.)

Note that your choice of power supply makes a big difference. I started out using a laptop power supply for my amplifier, and when I replaced that with a dedicated power supply from Delta that was rated for a higher wattage, my amp more than doubled in output.

One last thing, don't let this type of project scare you, it is incredibly simple to set up.

So got mine, and it sounds good for what you pay for. It cuts off low end quite a bit, sounds like ~120.

That's from the banana output.

I connected my Logitech 2.1 back from 2003 with the 3.5 aux. Full range, works great as a Bluetooth receiver. Amazing setup in my bathroom now. Glad I got it. Will recommend as a Bluetooth receiver, maybe not so much of an standalone amp tho..
