I need a logo made for my son's start-up business. He is, of course, broke and can't really afford to have someone do it for retail.
Anyone here willing to help? I don't know what he can pay; you'd have to let me know what you would charge up front, I guess.
The logo is for his (boat) hull cleaning business. The idea is to have a bunch of different sized barnacles with a (gloved?) hand with a putty-knife type of blade clearing away the middle bunch, thereby exposing the business name underneath.
He would use it for business cards and on the back window of his truck. Credit to the artist can be included in the design, if desired.
i am a graphic designer - but i dont have my computer set up and such. it looks fairly easy. maybe if i get a few minutes i can sketch something up on paper. who knows
you forgot to include the name of the business lol
the logo you see below in my signature is the diyma logo, i did not have a high resolution pic of the logo for my signature, so i made my own. ive been around photoshop since like 1998~2000 with version 5.0 lol. i also went to college for graphic design bla bla bla.
so lets hear the business name, and i got the barnacle stuff on lock.

Cool!
For lack of a better name (IMO), he's naming it "Bottoms Up" Hull Cleaning
If it was my company I would not use any name that does not represent the exact service and professionalism. You provide hull maintenance and it's done perfect. (Not trying to be critical.)

I appreciate that, but he's a commercial diver and has been cleaning hulls since he was 12 years old (to include Navy vessels and cruise ships). He knows what he's doing but I'll pass it on anyway.
Ref the name...he wants something catchy. I agree with him. "Slippery Bottoms Hull Cleaning Service" seems to be a good, catchy name for a mundane sounding industry. Plus, from my knowledge of layers and such, I'm assuming that the logo would be a layer of the final product, and could actually be changed very easily, compared to the rest of the pic.
All have opinions, and I do appreciate yours. Thanks for taking the time.
ive got a great designer... Be sure you have a fairly good concept you want to go with.. so its easier to get narrowed down in proofing.. And he's quick with revisions etc.. I will find out what he would charge you.. But i guarantee you it cant be beat, and he can forward you all kinds of files for your printer.. Most prefers high resolution PDF to print form.. He save me a TON of money.. He did my label designs for one of my companies, shot me full PDF's with Bleed and Cut lines.. I basically went straight to a printer. Price went from several hundred dollars to BAM $75 to print!!! i couldnt be happier with what he did for me.. anyway will find out for you... You just have to have a paypal account to pay him.. He's in India...

"Ahh, Newton...hobb-knobbing with the big-wigs!"
That's the kind of response I was hoping for. Excellent. Thanks!
Ok, i talked with Amit (my graphics designer), he said he would do for you for $120.. That my friend is a STEAL!!! If you just call around, here locally its a min. of $75 per hour design time.. and you will have several hours in it, not counting proofing time, etc...
Anyway, all i ask is you be very cool if you use him, and make SURE you pay him, as its my REPUTATION on the line for asking for the help for you...
Heads up, there will be lots on email communication... He is very QUICK, and revisions are usually within 30 min. max.. I do alot of emailing to him at this late hour because of the time line we are on.. Also if you are planning on making cards from the design, call up a local printer, and tell them you are thinking of making cards, and if YOU bring them the file (or email) ask them what kind of FILE do they need for printing.. More than likely they will tell you a High Res. PDF file..
Most of your proofing and going back and forth with be a jpg. file.. when done with design and happy, just tell Amit (Ad for short) you need a PDF file for the printer.. Oh and also check with your printer and see if they require a Bleed (extra edges), if so, just tell Amit, and he will do for you as well for your PDF...
If you are good with price, and want to proceed with this, please PM me and i will give you his email contact information and you can take it from there..
Tell your son, good luck with his adventure...
